go ahead and make fun of me whatever its cool. anyways my ipod decided to go for a swim. i assume it is fucked but is there anyone that fixes them and wants to take a look at it for me or tell me if there is anything i can do to try to get it to work. I have not tried turning it on or anything yet and have just been letting it dry out.

oh shit your first post and title are misleading!!! if it had just gone "for a swim", i think an ipod would be fine after that.but it didn't go for a "swim", it got caught in a concentrated KATRINA without any case/protection.i would say it is fucked.

let it dry out for a week or 2. try turning it on. if it didn't come on in the process, it might be ok as long as you let it completely dry out.

Which kind of iPod?If it's a Nano, it's salvageable, if it's a regular one, it's very likely dead.I would put it in the oven at about 110 degrees farenheit or so, to dry it out more quickly. And don't try turning it on for a while. If you can even take it apart, and disconnect the battery, that would be good too.The most likely part to be damaged is the HD, if water/dirt has gotten inside, even if it dries, the dirt is going to screw you.[Edited on May 16, 2007 at 8:35 PM. The way things ended i am sure she would be happy to know it is very probably destroyed i wasn't sure if i could just pry the damn thing open or what, wasn't trying to break it anymore. is that how you open it or is there another way?[Edited on May 16, 2007 at 8:56 PM. good idea dude. BUT you have to take some parts from the inside and let it dry otherwise, it will dry and .........
5/16/2007 8:57:38 PM
ok so i got the thing apart and am gonna let it dry some more, couldn't figure out how to disconnect the battery though
5/16/2007 9:10:28 PM
don't they make water tight cases for ipods?
5/16/2007 9:35:07 PM
Yes, they make water-proof cases. However, they're about $100 too.
5/16/2007 10:17:36 PM
better than ruining a $300ish IPOD
5/17/2007 6:51:17 AM
if it turns out fucked smash it with a hammer and mail the pieces back to your ex- "thanks bitch"
5/18/2007 2:11:10 AM
I'll buy it from you if it's still broken.
5/18/2007 2:15:44 AM
do a battery replacement on it for like $70apple sends you a refurb, you send them your ipod that "does not hold a charge" (read: anything)...profit
5/18/2007 3:26:09 AM
brilliant... scam the company for your own fuckup
5/18/2007 9:50:27 AM

5/18/2007 12:42:03 PM

5/18/2007 2:23:25 PM

try putting it in a bag of rice. My phone fell into the pool and I just threw it into a zip lock bad filled with rice. After sitting overnight, it worked like new. It's like rice in a salt shaker, the rice absorbs the moisture. But I know an iPod is significantly different from a phone.
5/18/2007 4:36:41 PM
k, it wasn't "dropped" in a pool it was submerged and agitated for a extended period of time... it's dead, like your sex life
5/21/2007 9:43:32 AM
i figured it was dead, my sex life on the other hand... very very active, at this rate i am gonna catch an std
5/21/2007 6:32:09 PM
not following yah, you can catch std's from swimming in a pool. OMFG!
