So I woke up this morning and there was a little spot with a green (and yellow-ish further away) on my finger. It's right at the nail grove and I think it was caused when i was clipping my nails and had a hanger and ripped it off.



Now, is this necessarily an infection or did the area just get a lack of blood for a while or something? There's no feeling in it at all, pushing on the area doesn't cause any pain though it is a little swollen around that area. Oh, and sometimes puss will seep out of it if I stroke it just the right way.

What should I do Dr. TWW???1

get a sewing needle and scrape out some of the gunk and pour a lot of peroxide and alcohol on it

thats like a 3 on the "is this shit i should REALLY worry about" scale

Is it warm? Given the pus and the redness and swelling, I'd say yes, it's infected, even if it's not warm and there's no pain

Were I you, I'd disinfect the skin, lance that bitch, wash it with betadine, and soak it in epsom salts if it started hurting, and of course, keep up a regimen of cleansing and watchfulness. But you aren't me

I've had something like that before. I would just kinda pull the skin away from my fingernail where the green spot is at and puss would come oozing out

The picture was taken when it was at about it's worst, lol

The green is pretty much gone now, but some of the pink area around it has gotten a little darker. The area that was green seems to have given up on life and mostly went away with the puss. If there's no severe discoloration I'll probably just leave it alone and call it good. If distinct discoloration AND moderate pain started, then I'd be in the doctors office in no time flat.

heh, this is the kind of thing they always warn the little kids about but never happen. "don't do that, it'll get infected!"

smashed it at work- got pinched b/w the center of large whee/tire and the balancer spindle... its broke at the end joint too- before the swelling really hit i could bend it side to side almost a full 180deg.
