poor ricky he just loves the marijuana, is that so bad?
5/11/2007 12:09:57 PM
this is why we should legalize pot
5/11/2007 12:11:48 PM
i feel sorry for the guy....great player, and has never made any trouble, other than his affinity for weed....which in perspective with what some of the other NFL players do, is nothing.
5/11/2007 12:18:33 PM
fall off the wagon i didn't know pot was so addicting.
5/11/2007 12:22:00 PM
thats too bad. like it's already been said, compared to some of the stuff that NFL players do, smoking weed is not a big deal...[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 12:55 PM. Reason : asdf]

From the linked article:

I don't get it. How do you all feel bad for this chump? How hard is it to NOT SMOKE WEED FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS??!?!?!
5/11/2007 1:45:42 PM
I'd imagine it would probably be pretty hard, especially considering that you've been doing it for a long time. Add in to that fact that you have MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to do with what you will, how could he not go out and buy some weed?I mean, seriously--he's a guy who enjoys smoking and came into the NFL, which gave him a lifestyle to do what he's probably always wanted: sit around, smoke blunts, eat expensive munchies and play XBox without worry of where the money is coming from.I'm not saying it's right, but goddamn it's got to be hard to stop. I'm fucking poor and I can't stop, so I don't expect Ricky Williams to.
5/11/2007 2:31:44 PM
He's always got minor league baseball to fall back on.I'd be happy seeing him play in Kannapolis again.
5/11/2007 2:40:03 PM

still dont feel sorry for him and you have no reason to either. like i said im not judging him by whether smoking pot is wrong or not, but simply basing it on the fact that we are a structured society and we have rules and he knew them. Have I broken rules? Sure we all have. But, if we get caught we (myself included) deserve no sympathy for consciously breaking rules, especially in the kind of situation he could have had himself in. If youre willing to throw that away then too bad.
5/11/2007 4:05:41 PM
the only thing dangerous about pot is that it's illegal and you have to go through dealers to get it.
5/11/2007 4:09:34 PM
are you people retarded ?he hates a huge amount of people around him... this has been established....he's expected to come back to the NFL to make money... the easiest way to get out of that with a good excuse is to smoke weed and get in trouble so he can go back to the canadian league where he enjoys playing. He just needed a good excuse.I doubt he ever wanted to come back to the NFL, it was just expected of him
5/11/2007 4:10:39 PM
^^ i understand that and that is not the principle here. whether the law is stupid/ignorant/whatever its there, follow it until it is different.
5/11/2007 4:14:00 PM
5/11/2007 4:24:44 PM
5/11/2007 4:26:47 PM
doesn't make it right and is still illegal and punishable. If you want to enjoy the benefits of living in America, follow the rules that go along with it.
5/11/2007 4:28:32 PM
5/11/2007 4:32:03 PM
I've already covered both of those. I was using the law as a principle of the matter. And I already stated that everyone breaks laws (including myself). However, because of this we deserve no sympathy when we do break them and get caught. (I wouldnt expect any either). Like I said, im not here to condemn or agree/disagree with what he did. Just stating that zero sympathy is deserved here.At some point you gotta be an adult and take responsibility for your actions and too many pussies out there these days dont do this. Instead they want to whine and complain and hope some suckers feel sorry for them.[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 4:36 PM. Reason : ]

^^I just can't adhere to the "if Uncle Sam says it, it must be true" philosophy, and I never will....some laws are asinine, and I always have sympathy for those unlucky enough to be entangled in them, but that's just me.[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 4:36 PM. Reason : .]

exactly. who cares if the laws are asinine. theyre there. end of story. There are better ways to try and change them then going against them. (and im sure Ricky Williams wasnt making any political statement and trying to change the laws by smoking pot heh)[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 4:39 PM. Reason : ]

i mean, godshould marijuana be legal? no pothead with a brain would ever want thisis marijuana a big deal? if you think so, you should probably shoot yourself in the faceif he wants to play in the nfl, he should know better, thats just the way it fucking is.in a perfect world/country it wouldnt matter, but we do not live in such a place

calledtoarms must be the worst friend evercta's friend: "dude i just got a fucking speeding ticket!"cta: "serves you right, dumbass, if you can't drive w/out speeding you deserve every ticket you get"cta's friend: "uhhhhh....."that said, i feel sorry for ricky b/c of his anxiety disorder, not b/c he cant play in the nfl. he doesnt want to play in the nfl anyway, why would you feel sorry that someone cant do something they dont want to do? i do, however, feel sorry for us as fans for not being able to watch him play at the highest level (and for dolphin fans obv)[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 9:58 PM. Somebody already hit on this, but yeah, he doesn't want to play football anymore. I first suspected this when he retired, citing "I don't want to play football anymore" as his reason. The fact that he only came back because he was about to lose all of his money does not mean that he ever changed his mind about playing football. Now he has failed multiple drug tests after his comeback, despite knowing his "punishment" would be not getting having to play football.Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 10:49 PM. I say if he can be a pothead and still be able to perform so well at that level of play then he should be praised for it. That is an amazing achievement.
