Strangest thing I've ever seen. I've seen them on foot, on bicycles, motorcycles, and cars. They don't chase after you...they stand in the road and wave you over to stop. Even on interstates at 90mph. And if you don't pull over and back up to them, you're f'd. F'n weird I tell ya. On foot even! Speed traps on f'n foot!!!!

5/9/2007 10:53:51 PM
dude, i got one down there a few years ago going to orlando from a guy dressed up like a construction worker using a radar disguised as a piece of surveying equipment. he was standing in the median in a work zone area radioing ahead to cars to pull you.craziness.i'll be damned if i'm pulling over for anyone standing on the side of the road waving at me. no way that can hold up in any court that you failed to stop.
5/9/2007 10:53:56 PM
^ you forget a bush runs the place, anything can be held up cause you might be a terrorist
5/9/2007 10:57:02 PM
In the slower zones, they actually step in front of your damn car! Badump...ooops! What was that??? *reverse* But seriously, this is the strangest shit I've ever seen. F'n crazy.

emporia, dinwiddie, and crewe, va, those niggas don't mess around, there's no keep an eye out, it's you speed 5mph over, you will get a ticket any time of day anyday, they are out there 24/7
5/9/2007 11:13:53 PM
Nooooshit. But if the rest of traffic is doing 80-90, all the same speed, they don;t mess with you.
5/9/2007 11:18:25 PM
nooone goes 80-90 in emporia.
5/9/2007 11:32:16 PM
Oh yeah they do. Follow the dumbasses about a half mile back and you're fine. Once you find your dumbass, you're set.[Edited on May 9, 2007 at 11:40 PM. Reason : .]

I saw this while i was in Tampa a few weekends ago. Construction worker with a radar detector. Def did a double take.

had this waiving thing happen to me in MD once, guy ran out into the left lane before a toll booth and flagged me over, was going about 60 in a 45I thought it was some crazy dude trying to commit suicide by running out in traffic, then I saw it was a cop and was like WTF is this guy doing... he didnt give me a ticket. I thought as I drove off, why the fuck would you risk your life like that and not get the satisfaction of giving a ticket out?!
5/10/2007 10:22:39 AM
I've gone through all those cities in VA averaging 80-100, I do use my radar detector in VA though. /shrug[Edited on May 10, 2007 at 10:26 AM. Reason : although as soon as I crossed the border into maryland my detector went off non-stop]
5/10/2007 10:25:57 AM
on the tail of the dragon they stick an arm out and if you clip them with your bike you can get an assault charge
5/10/2007 11:32:05 AM
That's bullshit and should be illegal.
5/10/2007 11:58:48 AM
i call bullshit any of you have gone 80-100 through emporia. even without the cops, the road and traffic doesn't really allow a consistent speed of that.btw, i'm pretty sure that emporia makes it no secret that they finance alot of their department on traffic violtations, specifically targeting non locals. they also serve as a test department for alot of new equipment iirc. it's been like that there for years and years. i remember my dad telling stories about going through there when he was playing semi pro baseball, and that was 40+ years ago.i had a trooper try to flag me over from his car on the shoulder of 64 in dare county. i knew what he wanted, but kept on cruising. when he finally pulled me over a mile or so down the road, he was all pissed saying "why didn't you pull over when i waved at you??" i was like "oh, i just thought you were being friendly, i waved back!"

^Any money made off tickets in those counties like Greensville go to the county, not directly to the department. The county thrives on that income.
5/10/2007 5:30:08 PM
makes sense. either way, they openly admit that's one of if not the main points of their crazy amount of traffic stops. i mean hell, at least they're honest about it. unlike other places.
5/10/2007 6:09:50 PM
I hate driving in VA for that very reason
