go out to start the jeep turn the key and absolutly nothing. my voltage shoots up , windows lights, streo etc. all work fine. no clicking or anything from the starter, but i swapped that out just to be sure, then tried jumpin it ... still nothing. just realized the jeep acts alot like it's not completly in park i'll have to catch a ride back across town to make sure the park is fully engaged. In the meantime can you guys think of anything it could be ??[Edited on May 8, 2007 at 12:41 PM. Reason : could be in nuetral. ]

go buy a voltmeter and a shop manual with a wiring diagram and get to it

could it be the crank shaft postion sensor or the actualt igntion switch??either way anybody wanna make some $$ towing my jeep about 3 miles? i don't mind paying a tow turck but i'd rather help some1 here and save some $ while i'm at it.

if it was the cps it would turn over, etc. just no spark at all, had to do one of those when i swapped engines.

i know some jeeps have a neutral safety switch, did you try starting it in neutral?

My Jeep did that the other week... turns out the wires were a little loose on the battery posts and I had some corrosion on the posts. It was making a connection, just not a good enough one to start it. Try taking the wires off, cleaning the post and wires and tighten them back up good. Worth a shot...

NSS/threadon that note, run the shifter through all the gears fairly fast and then try to start it in park and neutral. i have to actually hold my shifter between N and R sometimes for it to start.

try jumping a wire from the positive battery post to the small wire terminal on the starter, if it cranks, then you need to ground the brown/yellow wire at the neutral safety switch connector on the tranny by the shifter, it it cranks with the key, then the switch is bad, if not, then i'll go on from there
