Everybody says we're a city with a history of losing and whiny fans with sand in our vaginas...But what people don't understand is that we're a city that's proud of our sports and has continued to support them through the good, the bad, and the ugly. Which is much more than you can say for pussy ass North Carolina fans. The fucking Canes win the cup and the following season they still can't put people in the stands. I can't wait to see what the RBC Center will be like next season. On the other hand, Buffalo switches jerseys to (admittedly) an ugly insignia. So what happens? Sabres merchandise sales are up 800% compared to last season and every game is a sellout. Some jerseys are STILL back-ordered from Christmas, and trying to find the third jersey (old school) is like searching for the Holy Grail. North Carolinians have no idea what it's like to see an entire city back their home team. I was home two weeks ago, and virtually every sign within 50 miles of the city of Buffalo (on the American side at least)- churches, schools, pizza joints, everywhere- says something to the tune of Go Sabres. We have a love and passion for sports that rivals Boston's Love for the Sox, New York's love for the Yankees, Detroit's love for the Red Wings, Green Bay's love for the packers, or North Carolina's love for college sports. And in my opinion, in a city where there is not much else to cheer for (cause let's face it, the economy and the weather there are pretty fucking depressing), and in a city that's known for it's friendly neighbors, there really is only one team. There really is only one goal. Of course we're going to be sour about "Wide Right," "No Goal," and "No Lateral." And yeah, for now that's all we have to hold on to because we don't have a major sports championship. But that's all about to change...Lets Go Buff-a-lo!!!flame away

People in North Carolina don't care much about hockey.[Edited on May 5, 2007 at 12:24 AM. Reason : We used to care about pro basketball, once upon a time, until the Hornets screwed us.]

its not about to change. you guys need to realize that. god has a plan for your beaten-down shit city, and the plan does not include championships.
5/5/2007 12:26:10 AM
^first of all, have you ever been there? Define a beaten-down shit city beyond what I have already mentioned regarding our sports history and economy.and regarding your comment...
5/5/2007 12:34:12 AM
I rooted for Buffalo back in the Jim Kelly/Thurman Thomas days because it has to suck getting your heart broken like that over and over again.
5/5/2007 12:44:53 AM
yeah, ive been there, and i wasnt impressed. its a miserable town, full of miserable people. I have seen everything I need to see about buffalo. I'm glad you feel a sense of pride and unity with your deprived brethren, but the fact is that most of your fans are true, self-indulgent assholes. As far as the roanoke rapids thing... thats where i am from, doesnt mean i cant see the world and form an opinion about it based on facts. I dont know what you have given the sabres, but i have given a lot and taken a lot from the canes. i have been with them through some of the shitty times, and shed tears of pure joy during the good ones. i have given them my sweat and tears, and i feel like i am part of the team. i have probably brought about 40 people to the sport of hockey that otherwise would have no idea about it. I'm not saying you can't feel good about your team(jersey sales are great), but the majority of the asshole fans associated with your city have pretty much erased any sympathy or understanding that you will ever get from any of us.[Edited on May 5, 2007 at 12:47 AM. I feel bad for the Bills, losers of 4 Super Bowls in a Row And I've also been to Buffalo a number of times. It a piece of shit city is all I have to say.I won't say more because any city with a team who can lose 4 Super Bowls in a row and also lose the AFC championship with 5 seconds left (aka Music City miracle) has gone through enough shit.
5/5/2007 12:53:08 AM
I have nothing against Buffalo but every one of their fans I've meet is a total asshole. thats why i pray they get there asses handed to them every time
5/5/2007 12:57:56 AM
It's not any more miserable than any other northern, blue-collared city. I really think that's just a self-fulfilling prophecy for visitors based on our weather and sports. And I think what you've done for the Canes and for the sport of hockey in NC is great, but let's face it, you are a part of a small minority. And I also feel that some drunken assholes (which are in every city) shouldn't represent an entire city in the midst of a great series of hockey. Perhaps this was the second point I was trying to bring across. I honestly don't even know exactly what it was that transpired during the series to turn the whole city of Raleigh against the city of Buffalo (I was in Brazil during the series). I mean for Christ's sake, there's probably more native Buffalonians down here than Raleigh folk.

^ We can start with women pissing in the stairwells, or we can start with cursing a blue streak at five year olds. Your choice.
5/5/2007 1:08:13 AM
well, for starters... jim rutherford's mom got beer poured over her head by some dick when we scored a goal in the ecf last year. every buffalo fan was obnoxious at the rbc last year(which isnt a bad thing), but i'd say about half added insults and gestures, and half of those were bad enough to pour beer on people and start conflicts.i went to a panthers/bills game in buffalo in the season tix section, rockin my panthers jersey. that was an experience...
5/5/2007 1:09:47 AM
duke/unc/state maybe...don't use the canes
5/5/2007 1:33:32 AM
support for the canes last year was as big as any pro team. its been common knowledge for many years that the canes had some of the best fans in all of nhl. if you were in raleigh last summer you would have seen the "whatever it takes" sticker ont eh window of every business, the car flags everywhere, huuuuge support on cars, homes and clothing from cary to clayton to wake forest to knightdale. and the +80 thousand that turned out for the parades.this post is the typical bitterness we saw out of buffalo fans last year. resorting to elitism when its obvious you're getting pwnt by a non historical hockey town. sure you have a great team but don't get mad at us because we pulled it out over you and went on to win the cup.
5/5/2007 2:50:47 AM
pro championships are about the most meaningless thing ever. don't lose sleep over it.

i'm not sure where this came frombut what makes you think anybody CARES about buffalo sports?you have a crappy fball teama crappy college w/ crappy teamsand some team in a sport that is only shown the outdoor channelwhat are they in the playoffs right now and that is why you made this?
5/5/2007 3:07:47 AM
I went to a couple of the EC final games last year, and I will say, Buffalo had the RUDEST fans of any hockey team that has ever visited the RBC Center. The buffaholes had to run their mouths at every canes fan they saw, including where they told some guys "go drive your tractor back to your singlewide and mind the farm while your fake hockey teams gets annihilated by people that actually give a damn" they about got into a physical fight over that.

5/5/2007 4:33:07 AM
Obviously hockey is the best measure of North Carolinians' passion for sports.By the way, your Buffalonians have no idea about passion. In Rio the Brazilians go so nuts for any beach volleyball game. When is the last time you saw that kind of passion for beach volleyball in Buffalo?
5/5/2007 5:55:23 AM
ok, lets compare the support for our respective hockey teams. after that, we can compare our support for college basketball teams.
5/5/2007 8:37:46 AM
I support sunny blue skies and 80 degree weather in April over dreary gray skies and 30 degree weather WITH A PASSIONfucking dumbass buffalo fan, this thread sucks almost as bad as you and the rest of your city does
5/5/2007 9:01:57 AM
I don't like that Lindy Ruff won coach of the year over Peter Laviolette. And I think the Cane's have a pretty damn good backing for a hockey team in the south which competes with college sports teams. And you are right, you do sound like a whiny fan with sand in his vagina. And sorry you've never won a championship...but not really. Your fans are assholes.
5/5/2007 9:32:58 AM
i think it speaks volumes that this thread should appear during the annual window between the sabres doing well in the regular season and losing in the playoffsin other words, peak sabres bandwagon season
5/5/2007 9:36:17 AM
we've got Buffalo Brothers down herewhat more do you want?
5/5/2007 10:29:24 AM
in one sentence you say North Carolina has no loyalty or backing for a team, then in the next compare the Buffalo support to that of North Carolina and college basketball
5/5/2007 10:34:14 AM
It's not his fault the Buffalo School system failed him.
5/5/2007 10:41:01 AM
Key Points in this Thread1. Buffalo fans suck, hard2. We in Raleigh can understand their angst on the socioeconomic level and their frustration with an abominable track record where weather and professional sports are concerned3. What we can't understand is why they are elitist assholes when it comes to said sports - because frankly, their record has done done nothing to merit this standing4. We're not sure why you needed to call out NC fans in order to get your point across5. The wild support the team gets from the city is surely impressive, but...6. Nobody outside a 50 mile radius of Buffalo cares
5/5/2007 11:06:37 AM
I know the Buffalo Bills had passion......Passion for drinking every night of the 4 super bowl weeks with which they were involved. Just curious about buffalo fans after the Canes beat them in 7, did they still talk trash after they lost in 7, b/c if true, that's the true sign of moronic fans. Every fanabse has fans that talk smack before and druing the matchup, it's weather they shut up after they get beaten on the field/court/diamond/ice capades[Edited on May 5, 2007 at 11:08 AM. Dear smartass from buffalo:Your team is only a few years out of bankruptcy protection due to lack of attendance and overall team shittiness and came within a hair's breadth of packing up the whole team and moving somewhere else (yeah, there's some real community support for ya). So please, don't talk to us about your rabid fanbase and dedication to your team when you're just like everyone else with your bandwagoneers. Whatever you may feel toward us southern fans, at the end of the day, the final tally is still Carolina 1 - Buffalo 0 in the trophy case, which is where it really counts in the end. So until your team actually wins something and you have a decent reason to speak, please do us all a favor and shut up.And as far as attendance goes, congratulations, you have one winning team in a city where there's nothing else to do. Enjoy it while it lasts, because half your team will be free agents this offseason and up for a pay raise, including Briere, Drury and other notables, and somehow I doubt you'll be able to re-sign them all and survive intact through all the arbitration hearings and free agent defections in the months to come. It happened to us last offseason, and it will now happen to you. Merry Christmas

I lost what little respect I had for Buffalo fans (which, admittedly, wasn't much) when some bandwagon-hopping puckbunny expressed surprise that somebody outside of Buffalo knew who Drew Stafford was.......while I was wearing a University of North Dakota hat, and after I had just gotten done telling her about how I've been a fan of UND's NCAA hockey team since I was a kid.Yeah, great fans there in Buffalo.
