expect the insurance to rape you in the ass if you pay the fine. Heres what to do:Hire a lawyer, get the lawyer to reduce the ticket (try and get it reduced to "improper equipment" because this will not add points to your license or insurance.) If you cant get improper equip, just try to get some kind of reduction, anything helps.

You're going to hear a lot of different shit, but on this fact
5/4/2007 9:26:02 PM
most of the time they reduce it to 9 over (so it won't fuck your insurance), and make you pay the fine^it's pretty easy to do this without a lawyer[Edited on May 4, 2007 at 9:30 PM. Reason : .]

i asked the guy if i could get it reduced and he striaght up said no just pay the fine, but cops lie all the time.also, someone told me to use my prayer for judgment, which from the other threads ive read have determined this is a bad idea
5/4/2007 9:36:38 PM
they reduce it at court, the day you walk into the court room you typically will be in line and when it gets to you an ADA will ask you if you want to plead guilty if we reduce it to 9 over. It's as simple as this, then you just pay the fine.

I got caught doing 80 in a 60.Thankfully, it got reduced so I kept my license, then I used my prayer for judgement and have tried to be an angel on the road ever since.

look up an attorney in whatever county its in
5/5/2007 12:17:14 AM
1) Cops don't reduce the fine, DA's do.2) like people have said 99% of the time they'll reduce it to 9 over. 3) If you don't want to use a poj, get a lawyer.
5/5/2007 12:37:51 AM
Honestly, not using your poj here would be stupid. This is exactly what it was created. Please don't waste money on a lawyer, and drive like you're supposed to for the next three years.

^that's retarded. PFJ is overkill for this offenseThe correct answer is
5/5/2007 12:44:48 AM
PFJ is overkill, save it for another offense. I've had an 88 in a 65 reduced to 9 over. As your first ticket, I am pretty confident in saying that this does not require a lawyer. Just talk with the Asst DA when you go to court and he'll probably bring it up before you even ask him about it.
5/5/2007 12:49:06 AM
you'll receive numerous solicitations from lawyers in that countycontact them, ask them what they can do for you, then pay accordinglyit's worth the extra cash, esp when it gets dropped completely[Edited on May 5, 2007 at 12:52 AM. Reason : z]

Don't forget to get your AAA money--$100--if you have AAA Plus. (Some restrictions apply.)
5/5/2007 2:19:23 AM
what county was it in, I know wake county will not drop to a non moving violation. But im telling you, dont listen to the drop to 9 over, YOUR ABSOLUTE FIRST CHOICE should be hiring a lawyer to get it dropped to a non moving citation such as improper equipment, and if you cant then do it yourself to 9 over
5/5/2007 3:16:07 AM
Using your PJC is the wrong move. That is only used as a last resort after you have already had other speeding tickets on your record. My first ticket was 15mph over and I paid a lawyer an extra 50 on top of court costs because I couldn't be there. Reduced to 9 over and I didn't have to show up. But if you can make it to court the DA will almost ALWAYS reduce it to 9 over and no points go to insurance. My second ticket however was 20mph over and I had to use my PJC for that so my insurance premiums didn't go up.

haha... speaking of PFJ overkill, when I was in college, I was on my parent's insurance. You get one PFJ per family. My dad got a PARKING TICKET and used the PFJ because no one in my family had gotten any traffic-related tickets for 5 years. Then, in the span of 4 months, I got a speeding ticket, wrecked my car, and then got a stop sign violation!

P.S. If you are a student, and the ticket was in wake or a neighbooring county, NCSU Student legal services will take care of it for you...FREE

it was in guilford county, and im pretty sure ill have to end up taking a day off work to drive down there if i dont just get a lawyer to do it for meso far a lawyer is soundin the best way to go
5/5/2007 2:20:52 PM
^^I was assuming he was a student at state getting the ticket in wake.

Save the PFJ for when you run someone over.
