that's a pretty significant change actually

The elite shooters won't be affected much because they often shoot from 2-3 feet behind the line anyway. This will mainly effect the shitty shooters who become enamored with the 3 just because its so close.

I agree, it's about time
5/3/2007 4:35:53 PM
ie this won't affect costner but it might affect fells and no doubt it will affect gavin grant(maybe it will help him by driving more).

I like it, it will take some more luck out of the college game.It also opens things up inside a little more for post players since you cant collapse down as easily.

wish they would make it an even 20
5/3/2007 4:45:07 PM
^thats 3 inches back, what would be the point? The way the game is now, athletic guys can go from the paint to block a 3 attempt in a step and a half. Remember Hakim Warrick at the end of the title game 4 years ago? This will give good shooters more space and make double teams less on the perimeter less likely since they know they have more ground to make up, hopefully improving the offense's flow.Especially in the Big 10. I don't know how those motherfuckers can play 48-46 games every night. As Bill Simmons said, watching a Big 10 game is like watching a WNBA game with dunking.[Edited on May 3, 2007 at 4:49 PM. Doubt it hurts Fells any either. His problem isn't range, it's just consistency in general.Grant...yeah, possibly.
5/3/2007 6:12:37 PM
Won't hurt grant either
5/3/2007 6:17:37 PM
Good point.
5/3/2007 6:19:06 PM
o i didnt see it was going to take a year to implementbetcha the NCAA dumbfucks change thier mind in the meantime
5/3/2007 6:27:36 PM
so do they start practicing now at the new distance? or keep shooting at the old distance?
5/3/2007 6:40:04 PM
The "coaches behavior" rule will not affect d00k or UNC. Neither will the 3 point line. All 19'9" shots still count as 3 for them.
5/3/2007 8:55:48 PM
Twenty years ago? uhhhh...wtf?
5/3/2007 9:23:29 PM
About 20 years. The line was officially adopted in 1986.Some conferences had it earlier. In '83, the ACC had the 3-point shot but the NCAA tournament didn't.
5/3/2007 9:31:06 PM
this won't take effect until 2008-2009, pending a vote
5/3/2007 9:59:18 PM
on pti today they said there's another group who wants to move it back (i think) 9'' and make it the same as international play. that's what they should do, imo.
