Sooo does anyone else have the problem with Windows Vista randomly shutting down, not playing video games, and just overall being slow and uncooperative?A few buddies and I all have the same problem...new laptops...in Iraq...Vista Blows.just wonderin if any of you guru's had any suggestions barring taking Vista off...

It's because the operating system is programmed to be unstable when used in countries deemed unfriendly to the US. Obviously, it knows where you are. Only officially sanctioned machines are free of the backdoors and instability you've mentioned. Although Iraq is officially a friendly country, the population itself is considered to be rife with anti-american sentiment and thus all unsanctioned vista machines inside the country will be unstable and not at all secure.[Edited on May 2, 2007 at 5:04 PM. On a more serious note, are all the copies you're mentioning:Legal? On the same brand/model laptop?Patched with the latest updates? Also, since most problems I've heard with Vista have been driver related, have you gone to manufacturer websites to update the drivers? That may help in many cases.

Brands of laptops range from Dell to Toshiba...and yea legal copies...I know mine's been updated, but there's probably more drivers I can get...I think I've only done the automatic updates windows makes you do, I dunno about the rest of the guys.

Then unless my jokes about the location-specific instability are correct, you may just have to wait for a few more patch cycles.[Edited on May 2, 2007 at 5:15 PM. Reason : ]

i have Vista Ultimate (x64) installed on my desktop and I have no problems at all except random bluescreen because of my sound drivers. But other than that the computer runs fast with no lag issues.

His and his friends' problems might also be related to a driver issue. I'm thinking some driver that's common to their laptops. They may have the same graphics chipset, onboard sound, or something else with a flaky Vista driver.

My guess would be that Microsoft doesn't support our troops.

I would have thought without a doubt that TWW would be on the gov. block list for soldiers. Its clearly the biggest anti-american american site out there.

^ I was trying to use google to find a jihadist website and say "No THIS is the most anti-american site on the net!", but after the most obvious search terms turned up nothing I gave up. Figured it was google's way of telling me "You fucking idiot, don't visit those sites or you'll never get security clearance for any job you might want."
5/2/2007 7:38:54 PM
i said anti-american american site. meaning ....nvm...
5/2/2007 7:46:52 PM
You don't think there's pro-jihad sites operated by americans?
