went and test drove one today. i was really impressed with it. it will be a grocery getter for the wife i think. does anyone have any first hand experience with an X5? if you were in the market for similar would you consider it?
4/27/2007 9:27:58 PM
yes, get it. what year are you looking at?
4/27/2007 9:29:14 PM
If I was in the market for something like that, I would consider these:FX45X5CayenneRange Rover SportIn looks, FX45 is a killer.
4/27/2007 9:44:49 PM
fx series interior quality is really shitty compared to the bmw, especially after about a year (go look at a lightly used one to see)I wouldn't have a range rover myself... not a ford fanthe fx is fast, i've driven both the 35 and 45, both are pretty quick. My dad and i went through this w/ my moms car, and we settled on the bmw. (and my dad always said he'd never ever own one) Besides, the maintenance being included is nice, I know mercedes doesn't do that anymore.[Edited on April 27, 2007 at 9:54 PM. Reason : .]

yeah, i got pwnt by a cayenne at a stoplight on glenwood one time

The RRS is really a BMW, with a supercharged Jag 4.2. Trust me the RRS and x5 are more alike than not, BMW Bought the Rover group and dumped tons of money into it, then realized they were losing their ass, so they developed the X5 and dumped rover off to ford. Ford isnt going to totally re-engineer any of BMWs work, it would be like Picasso retouching the Mona Lisa. The problem with the RRS is its price tag compared to the v8 X5. Its a luxury thing, if your already own a 760 BMW and you want a truck, but diversity is your thing, you buy the RRS. If you just aspire to break into the luxury SUV market and you want to do it in a big way, but not spend too much both up front and on maintenance compared to the $75k plus you will pay for the RRS, you buy the v8 X5. The Cayenne is in a totally different leauge in my opinion, and the fucking japanese FX shitbox can rot. Which it probably will, while you try to find it in a mall parking lot amidst 200 other nissans.
4/27/2007 10:05:05 PM
the cayene has 300 more hp than my truck, plus weighs 3,000 lbs less = pwnt like a motherfucker

4/27/2007 10:10:57 PM
Yes.Welcome to america, the land of equal oppurtunty hatred. I hate you cause of what you like. Like Nissans over a brand with prestige. You who bases his decisions on numbers printed in a magazine, you are the scum of the automotive earth, and I hate you. You are the same guy spouting off about his 500hp Charger with a 340, just wearing a different trucker hat. Die and let us breathe that air you are wasting.
4/27/2007 10:16:01 PM
WTF?
4/27/2007 10:18:57 PM
hate to say it but...cayenne
4/27/2007 10:34:27 PM

4/27/2007 11:10:43 PM
Last thing we need is another asian with a gun.

zing~the guy i worked under this summer took a job as project engineer over the hvac/nav shit for the X5's but i doubt he has any effect till the next model

reid, get it.
4/29/2007 12:54:51 AM
DOOO ITsweet rides, meredith and i checked one out one time. she didn't have the $$.
4/29/2007 1:08:31 AM
Please tell me, WTF is the point of an X5. The 5 series wagon has more cargo capacity and can be had with AWD. Though I suppose that's changed with the redesigned '07? If cost is no object I'd rock a Cayenne, but if it is then I'd try for a Toureg (same damn SUV anway).
4/29/2007 2:38:56 AM
honda civic hatchback.has more cargo room than most SUVs.but its not AWD.

Toureg V10 TDI FTW, Leith VW has one
4/29/2007 9:46:23 AM
I still don't see the point of getting a SUV for grocery shopping.
4/29/2007 10:03:47 AM
I highly considered the X5 for the last few months, our family came to the decision that the Audi Q7 was the better option. We have only had it for a couple weeks and we love it, the features are amazing and the dealership treats you a lot better.
4/29/2007 10:57:45 AM
x5 4.8is or fx. (Or jeep grand cherokee srt-8...), but seriously... go drive a 540iT first

how about mclaren F1 engine swaphttp://youtube.com/watch?v=vC33J-zMR78
4/29/2007 12:52:45 PM
^wrong bmw msport engine....The engine in the x5 lemans was from the LMP
4/29/2007 2:13:17 PM
^no, it is not wrong. it is the same engine that powered mclaren F1. they also used the same block, obviously detuned for 8-series during mid 90's.
4/29/2007 3:07:23 PM
HAahahaThe BMW x3 and x5 are just as fucking stupid and worthless as the entire Range Rover line is now. It's a shitbox with gold trim that doesn't do anything well, but people buy it because it "means you have money".I swear on my grave, no matter how much I make, I will continue to daily drive my shit Saturn SL2 until it kicks the bucket because it's a damn good car and I don't give a flying shit what other people think of me.

I probably spend thirty minutes a day in a car. Over 70 years that adds up, why not spend it in a nice place? Not a gay place though like in an X5. Get the Range Rover. It'll help with that small penis, even if your wife drives it.
4/30/2007 12:50:24 AM
^^^^^ftwi already own a house, make some investments for my future, so i don't see the point in hoarding any extra money. shit gets spent HARD on stuff i enjoy. [Edited on April 30, 2007 at 1:10 AM. Reason : .]

i'd say driving a fun vehicle is directly comparable to the feeling of climbing a mountain.your point of a vehicle depreciating doesn't make any sense. exactly what appreciating asset are you gaining from climbing a mountain, etc.?[Edited on April 30, 2007 at 10:50 PM. Reason : .]
