so i roll up there for the first time tonight and notice a decent dodge charger on the curb with the tag "meanr nu" Then i hear the owner/doorman/bouncer say its running a "515+ HP 340ci smallblock". So after a friend ask about the engine i ask what hes running for 515hp at just 340ci. i mention my ebrock head and he says thats junk and he respond engle(they make small block heads...b1's?) er something. anyone know anything about said car, black primer with a 6-pack hood and maybe some drag radials, 68 model.

hell yeah, 340's belong in a and e bodies. definitely possible he's makin that number all motor at the flywheel, but it's not a real happy street car if so. my setup is ~400-425. stock j heads with alot of work, rowdy cam, and 11.5:1. barely get by on 93, and the cam can be a pain at times starting it and idling.hell, he could even be stroked too and just still calling it a 340 block. that would easily bring you that number. when my stroker goes it, i won't be advertising it any different.the most likey scenario is he's got a strong 375-400 with a 100-150 shot on it.

uh i guess he could be at 402 or whatever(i bought good head over big crank) but this thing looked like a $1500 bbody with maybe relocated springs and the dragradials and cheapo (hinge and pin) 6pack hoodif i could swing the stroker with my pistons/rods i go ahead and buy the crank. the comp ratio would be too high so i figure i'll throw some giggle juice at it if i dont get in (Streetable) rollcage territory[Edited on April 26, 2007 at 3:24 AM. i'm sticking with my trusty j heads. they have beautiful work done to them by boyette sr. eagle 4" crank. haven't decided on pistons.

what rods, i got standard length eagle H-beams and speed pro lp-233 or something pistons. positive deck by a tad with my block and the ebrocks. my big valve j heads had already been decked, i didnt feel like 800$ worth of porting vs 1200$ for the same flow and better compression support

id really like to talk to the guy just to see what he can spit out. i know he was working the door and stuff but id spout my shit out if i was packin 500+ from a smallblock that he drives to work downtown. not like hes gonna be sneaking up on kids in a street race around here.chargers didnt even come with 340s did they, at least i dont recall seeing one in person. i thought it was 318, 383, 440 or 426, at least in those years. if i was gonna build an engine for that car i sure wouldnt hunt down a 340 block for it when you could build a 451 or something that would haul that tank around for the same coin
