Been considering getting one and I saw the other guy's post but I'm not looking for anything like that.Never ridden, I weigh nothing (150lbs) and dont want to die (been known to be an aggressive and irresponsible driver). I like the looks of some of the smaller sports bikes naked and full bodied (not sure of the terminoligy) and would probably use the bike to ride back and forth to work and for weekend riding. Anyone have something for sale or have some suggestions.I'd even consider a cruiser just not sure where to start.[Edited on April 26, 2007 at 12:08 AM. Reason : .]

honda nt650, the muthafuckin HAWK all 50hp of raging v-twin powa, Igor will vouch for this as well. I absolutely loved mine, altho it was set up somewhat differently than stock - riding position, suspension, etc.sub 13sec 1/4 mile... 110mph top speed... oh yeah[Edited on April 26, 2007 at 12:21 AM. A couple months ago I picked up a ninja ex500 as my first bike and it's been about perfect for me. Not kill-yourself-fast but plenty for right now, makes driving my car feel like a bus...and it wheelies pretty easy P.S. It cost me 1350, but I'd expect to pay more. Probably at least $1500 + $400 of gear + $15/mo insurance[Edited on April 26, 2007 at 8:36 AM. Reason : PS]

yeah, those SRAD's are shit... 750's are nice though...
4/26/2007 8:40:48 AM
on the faster side: ZX-6e Ninja (as opposed to ZX-6R Ninja), YZF-600 (not R6), CBR-600 F2 or F3.You could do an older (90s) ZX-6R, I guess, but the 6e would be better for you and cheaper.EX500 (Ninja 500), SV-650, or Bandit 600 would be just about perfect.then there are a bunch of lower budget options...SECAs, old CB350, etc.

yeah, fine for him, but I never liked them in terms of looks, reliability, and handling. At least they are comfortable...
4/26/2007 9:04:25 AM
Yea they have their problems.. although I've replaced the timing chain tensioner with a manual one, that was the most common thing to f up. I didn't like the way it looked stock either...but the '01 fairings look pretty decent on it. Anyways, just throwing it out there.. lemme know if you want pics.. dunno what the price will be but it'll be cheap just because I need it gone
4/26/2007 9:06:06 AM
just don't try to jet it and end up spending 1200 and still never tuned right...

4/26/2007 10:58:04 AM
I just bought an '03 katana 600 as my first bike a few weeks ago. It's a bit on the heavy side, but from what i've researched, its a great bike to start on.
4/26/2007 11:03:09 AM
^^smaller noes are good, 125 and 250650s are a bit too tall for most people. unless the rear shock is blown
