It is one of my pet peeves and someone just put flyers on every car at our office and took off.

Google was not much help... From what I gathered it can be illegal due to the littering aspect of it...

I don't know if it's legal or not, but I think it should be grounds for getting a felony assult case dropped.

yeah, it pisses me off when i leave a parking lot before noticing I have a damned flier stuck under my wiper on the far, passenger side of the windshield.

DON'T TOUCH MY FUCKING CAR WHEN I'M SHOPPING

The best ones are when they put it on there and then it rains, the sun comes out and dries it out, and you are left with something that only God himself can remove.

I hate this garbage. Some exotic animal show at the fairgrounds put a flyer under my wiper, but not fully on my windshield at a tailgate. When it rained during the game, the cheap paper mushed into my paint and wouldn't wash off.

Lower than door-to-door and telephone solicitations IMO. I am currently getting irritated with day laborer maids, repairmen, etc. that keep stuffing flyers in my door.

If anything, it would be trespass to chattel (personal property) but the trespass causes no damages so you could only recover nominal damages for the violation of your property interest.

Unless the paint was affected in some way by the flyer becoming wet then drying in some fashion.

^if it did damage to your car, the person who put it there would be liable for the damage. The question then becomes whether it is worth the time and money to pursue it.

^ After the rain/drying it would be hard to tell who put it there so you're SOL.

What do you guys think about door inserts at your house?

I've been doing some targeted leaflets in neighborhoods, but I wonder what the general consensus is on it. Not junk mailers, this is putting a small folded page in a screen door, etc.

I figured, worst case they are easier to throw away. But we are only putting them in high demographic houses and neighborhoods. When 1/2 the homes on a street are being built, renovated or rebuilt, giving people a services flyer for renovation work doesn't seem as bad.

i assume you mean higher end instead of high demographic?

i thought you were targeting a higher end customer - the answers here aren't exactly representative of that demographic

our demographic being houses likely to be renovated or added on to, and yes definitely in a bit higher end areas.

For those asking, the ones stuck in door of my house are not bad, and actually have been helpful! I never thought I would appriciate these ads, but damn, sometimes researching the best product out there takes a long time. Anyway, it's not too annoying, it's pretty easy to throw away. But I do hate the ones they put on your car.

AHA, we get this on all sorts of things. Probably about three times a month we get some flyer or somebody coming by with, "I noticed blah, blah, blah..."

And, no, we're not insulted.

It would make me happy to wire the windshield wipers to the car battery so that when someone touches them, they get shocked.

I always wondered if you could be cited for littering if a cop saw you take one of these fliers off your windshield and throw it on the ground.

I think it could be considered littering to put trash (a flyer) on top of a random car.

This pisses me off to no end - over the last two years, two of these flyers were placed in my windows before it rained overnight, and I wasn't able to get the bottom half of the flyers which were stuck and melded to the part of the window that's in the door removed the next morning... both my windows are still fucked up to this day- people do this shit all the time down here in the Wolf Village parking lot, and if i ever catch one of these fucking assholes in the act, said perpetrator is going to beaten to death.

^yeah, the wolf village parking lot is bad for it
it really irritates me because it's always about some stupid party that I'm totally not interested in...and twice it has rained afterward and dried so that it was nearly impossible to get off.
Also, recently there was one on my windshield and it was covered in pollen, like the rest of my car was at the time...no trash can in sight, and I have allergies so didn't especially want to toss this pollen-covered thing in my car.

'I just happen to be working in your neighborhood'
This happens when contractors appear at your home unsolicited to inform you that they noticed some problems with your home's (insert: chimney, driveway, windows, plumbing, etc.) while working on a neighboring home. For example, a contractor might say he or she was on the roof of your neighbor's home and noticed missing shingles on your roof. This may be the case, but often no repair is needed.

More important, legitimate, established and reputable contractors tend to find enough work through word-of-mouth referrals that they don't need to be going door to door to attract customers. Be especially skeptical if the contractor drives a vehicle with no company name, no phone number or with out-of-state license plates. "Do not let these people enter your home," Johnson warns. "Often they want to be invited inside to see if something is worth stealing."

Some cunt would put flyers on coliseum deck vehicles like once a week over the summer. i want to say it was U Woods or U Suites, but I can't remember for sure. I got tired of it and got her tag # and called campus police. The lady who answered the phone asked one of the officers around her and he told her that there wasn't anything that campus police could do about it.

^that sucks

I once caught a lady putting stuff on my windshield and I told her to get away from my car because it was my property. Then she said "but there's great deals on here". I said "I don't care, get away" and she took them back and ran.

Quick check of google, and they hire those people from craigslist...chances are, they don't know the laws (even if there isn't one) and they'd freak out just telling them to go away.

they usually stay there until 1) the wind blows it out and into the neighbors yard or 2) someone rings my door bell and brings it in with them when they come over. I never use my front door

I can only hope that I catch some douchenozzle in a parking deck doing this one day. I'm going to walk 10 cars behind him and remove every single last one of them. Then, I'm going to find this place of business and scotch tape the flyers all over the front door.

what if your apartment complex has signs that say no solicitation, is that just for show or can something be done about it.

We get that shit all the time, and most people just throw that shit on the ground which makes are parking lot look like shit.

Ha, more like "they noticed while driving slowly up your street with a pair of binoculars."

I only get insulted with the Scotts lawn service dudes and that's cause I know my yard looks terrible.
