I have a 2006 Acura TSX with 13,000 miles on it...i contacted my local acura dealership to see how much an oil change is and the guy said that i dont need synthetic but it is preferred...just wanted to see what you guys thought...is it worth it? what are the time intervals between changes? how many people get synthetic oil on there tsx? didn't see any threads regarding this and the tsx thread is old...thanks

if you want to know what tsx drivers put in their cars you would be better off going to a tsx forum - that said...most people that post in the forums are going to recommend synthetic

yep, don't be cheap, go with synthetic. It ends up doesn't cost you more because the longer oil change interval.

new cars like synthetic old cars tend not to unless they have new motors.

synthetic is pricey, but going 6k (or more, depending on the oil) miles before doing it again it niceI used in my '05 Grand Cherokee 'til about 20k, used regular the last time 'cause it was convienient

I go in upwards of 5K with just regular oil, hell even Honda recommends it, on a 4cyl DD, I should hope with synthetic that people would get more than 6K!I dont get quite that much on the 6cyl that is not as much of a daily driver and gets hammered on a bit more[Edited on April 24, 2007 at 9:31 AM. synthetic. 10k interval. win.

i go synthetic because my car only takes 3 qt. with a 5k interval

the Mobil 1 EP is money. I used it on my mom's lexus, and she only drives like 7k/year. 2 years oil change interval ftw.

i am a big fan of an oil change a year even if it is under the mileage, especially if it is in extreme cold climates

^even though I don't change the oil, I did change the filter once a year. I also don't consider Raleigh to be extreme cold.[Edited on April 24, 2007 at 12:19 PM. Reason : .]

lol yeah I dont either was just saying in generalI used to have to do this in NY with my Impala, it never got more than 2K a year on it if that but sitting all winter when it is zero out is no good even if started on a weekly basis

I have an 06 TSX. I've been running Synthetic since my 1st oil change. Seems to actually run a little better (in my mind at least). I go ~10k miles b/w changes.also: DON'T GET IT DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP, YOU'LL GET ROBBED[Edited on April 25, 2007 at 12:43 PM. Reason : robbery]

You spent 25k+ on a car. Who cares what the oil change costs. Get synthetic.p.s. Get the quick change oil plug and a pair of ramps from Advance and start doing it yourself.[Edited on April 25, 2007 at 1:33 PM. Reason : s]
