If I have a permanent disability that falls under their guidelines, which is better: the placards or actual license plates?I'm leaning towards the plates, so that I won't have to move the placard every time I change cars.Does it matter?

i have the placard.. makes it much easier to use it in any car i sit in.the plate just makes you seem like an old person not sure what the guidlines are for the plate though, ive never asked about it.and there might be the problem with other people driving your car. if you let someone else drive it for any reason and they take advantage of the handicap parking and happen to get stopped by the law, you can get in trouble. but i dont know the rules behind it[Edited on April 22, 2007 at 1:19 AM. I hope the disability involves you not being able to walk.

^that shit pisses me off. They shouldn't give out that shit for people who can fucking walk.

maybe they are too stupid to find the store if they can't park right out front?

i have myasthenia gravis and before i had surgery to remove my thymus gland, i was legally handicapped (with a placard). don't assume anything about someone who can walk and has the placard. there are those ppl who use their grandma's when they shouldn't, but there are also people with heart conditions, joint problems, or other health problem that limit their ability to walk distances and therefore qualify for the placard.[Edited on April 22, 2007 at 8:58 AM. Get the place cards, You can get more than one.Don't assume that someone that can walk to the store does not have a totally valid reason to take the handicap spot.

we took a HC spot one night at a restaurant in my friend's truck b/c his leg was broken and he had a placard. everyone else got out first, all good and healthy, and this group of women walking by said something about how none of us looked handicapped. then one turned and spit towards us (they were like 20 ft away though). then my friend got out in a cast up to his waist and they walked away quickly.so yeah be on the lookout for crazy bitches like that if they can't easily tell you're disabled.

My parents are flying in for graduation and I'll be driving them around. Is my dad's out of state handicapped placard any good in NC? I emailed the graduation coordinator about RBC handicapped parking and they replied re: handicapped seating.

ask yourself this: why wouldnt it be valid?
4/22/2007 1:08:23 PM
Common sense suggests that it would be valid. That's why I'm asking if NCSU Transportation[1] will honor it. 1. or whoever tickets at (a) the RBC Center during graduation, (b) the Chancellor's Residence Friday afternoon, etc.

they should just let all women park in HC spots too so they can actually make it between the lines
4/22/2007 6:23:31 PM

i once argued with a cop about my handicap placard.man did it feel good.he claimed that the placard is issued to the car. and i repeatedly told him its issued to the person. i asked him how long he has been handicap for. and he even threatened to write me a ticket in which i told him he could write one for $10,000 and it would be dropped.then as i was searching for my registration card that had my name on it (and no word of a vehicle) he started to walk inside and i figured its taking it too far if i chased him inside and shoved it in his face.thats the only time ive ever disrespected an officer and felt that i needed to

i have a placard. much easier since i have multiple vehicles. my situation is also not a permanent one (hopefully) so i saw no need for a plate.i don't always use handicapped parking though. if there is a normal spot just as close or not much further away, i'll just use that.
