Acronis and Norton are your best shot. Don't know any open source options. Or maybe http://www.mozy.com

knoppix boot CD + partimage.... but the NTFS support is still beta I beleive. I've used it and it works, but I like BartPE + Ghost a lot better... pay the $50 it's worth it.

http://www.partition-saving.com/

Ive used this without issue on NTFS volumes. Needs any DOS based boot disk. I used a custom 98SE disk.

I use a utility like zapdisk (http://stuff.rad-on.de/ZapDisk.zip) to zero-fill the empty space, which creates a smaller image, then back up the partition to another harddrive (you can use a dos usb driver to mount a usb drive). Boot to savepart, save the image, then create a bootable dvd with the custom savepart floppy and the savepart image. (My images are less than what a dvd can hold). Then you have complete bootable backup on a dvd.

Only caveat is that it cannot create ntfs files if you are saving to an ntfs partiton, so you have to precreate empty files as place holders (fat doesnt need this). Savepart makes compressed images in a maximum of 2gb chunks.

Comparable to dd saves, compression is a little better than dd | gzip, but I like the interface instead of creating my own.
