Anyone owned this set or have any insight on it. Pretty mixed reviews online. Some people say nothing special, others say it produces great sound. Obviously the receiver is important, Im going to them up to my Onkyo TX-SR674.

I've never liked Bose for surround sound applications. Their reflective speaker technology is contrary to what you should be looking for in surround sound. You want precise directions on speakers. You want your rear channels to sound like they're behind you, not like they're surrounding you. YMMV

Everyone who has bipolar speakers would disagree with you on that one.

Its a very pricey speaker package, retails $1299 but Im getting it for $900 thru the military. Great deal but just wondering if its worth the price after discount.

the problem is they use $4 speakers and claim that they "tune" them to out perform others... marketing is a bitchyou can get better speakers for the money and when i get my 6th and 7th channel they'll be bipole speakers cause their sound stage is amazing but not bosebut... i also have turned into an audiophile if you don't know what you're missing you'll love them to death.[Edited on April 20, 2007 at 4:50 PM. The Acoustimass 16 series is a 6.1 system. Are you adding component by component?

You would probably be better off just getting one of the klipsch computer speaker systems. Seriously, they will sound much better
