Who wants to start one? Registration for Summer I session ends May 7th and the price is $700 for a team (ouch). The more people we get the cheaper it will be. Hell, we could even get a bunch of shirts and write our usernames on the back.
4/17/2007 3:38:37 PM
first.but i don't play soccer, sorry.
4/17/2007 3:50:15 PM
700 for a team is a bit rediculous
4/17/2007 4:31:57 PM
i play up at the factory in wake forest on the house team with some friends - a bit far to drive but it's the only place in the area that has weekend games for the adult co-ed leagues
4/17/2007 4:38:46 PM
i'd play if you called it the brentroad.com indoor soccer team.
4/17/2007 4:39:09 PM
God, i'm thinking you might offend someone with that username on the back of your shirt
4/17/2007 4:39:54 PM
The Factory isn't a luxury place to play but it's relatively cheap. Some of the refs are kind of idiots though. I played a couple of seasons there but stopped.I'll play Gronke, but not for 700 a team.
4/17/2007 4:41:49 PM
id play depending on what nights the games are[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 4:44 PM. Reason : and cost]
4/17/2007 4:43:31 PM
Gronke? I think i was on your team in middle school, the Meteors and that guy Mike was the coach. No?Oh, and I'd be interested[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 4:46 PM. Reason : ...]
4/17/2007 4:45:10 PM
THIS THREAD IS GAY ON SO MANY LEVELS
4/17/2007 5:01:10 PM
^^ lol wow, who are you?And if anyone knows anywhere else, I'd be glad to hear ideas. Soccer Dome was just the only place that I've played at so far, so that's where I've looked at first.
4/17/2007 5:46:39 PM
I'll play, send me a PM with the details though because I will probably never check this thread again
4/17/2007 5:53:38 PM
i'm down
4/17/2007 6:02:57 PM
Soccer Dome is terrible. I play in the adult co-ed league at the factory, as well. I also play pickup there on wednesday and friday nights.and $700 per team seems to be the de facto pricealthough I wouldn't pay $7 to play at Soccer Dome, much less $700[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 6:23 PM. Reason : .]
4/17/2007 6:13:11 PM
What's wrong with the soccer dome? I've never been there.
4/17/2007 8:30:01 PM
i'm not going to make any jokes about computer nerds and only white people not able to play other sports playing soccer
4/17/2007 8:35:44 PM
^ Splendid. You're welcome to join us.Where at in Raleigh and how much commitment outside of a weekend game do we have to do? I'd do it, but I live far away, so anything beyond a Saturday commitment does not work for me.
4/17/2007 8:42:13 PM
if this wasnt the summer, I'd do it. regardless of location
4/17/2007 8:43:46 PM
i might be down for this, provided it doesn't interfere with hockey
4/17/2007 11:14:59 PM
soccer dome is the OG of indoor soccer, all these new places are pretenders.if you notice the best of the triangle always pay a visit to soccer dome, such as myself.its like the comedy shop of soccer
4/17/2007 11:19:20 PM
4/18/2007 3:14:03 AM
^^ ahahahahha nigga PLEASE
4/18/2007 5:46:14 AM
i aint playing, i dont ever mess with the other places, i live like 2 minuts from soccerplex but i still play at soccer dome
4/18/2007 11:57:37 AM
oh god.
4/18/2007 12:05:53 PM
700?!? have you tried looking at the soccerdome prices or even soccerplex in cary?
4/18/2007 1:39:33 PM
How many games are on the schedule? When are the games? I am interested. I played in a winter league in Greensboro at the Sportsplex. I personally like their fields because they use indoor/outdoor turf and the boards are much higher, but I play at the Soccer Dome Sunday mornings in pickup games from time to time. I don't have much time anymore, though, but the summer is perfect. Depending on the time for games and stuff I'm down. Also, 700 a team isn't bad depending on the number of games. Soccer Dome plays 6-7 on the field at a time, so a 10 man team would put you at about 5-7 bucks a game depending on the season length, which is about average.
4/18/2007 2:27:06 PM
regardless, we should go out to colonial in cary and get some pick-up games going on
4/18/2007 2:58:11 PM
if no one else is in line first, i could keep...i'm a pretty good shot stopper, but long distribution was always my weak point; shouldn't be an issue indoors. again, contingent on not conflicting with hockey.
4/18/2007 4:38:16 PM
^ do you mean hockey on TV? or actually playing^^ colonial?
4/18/2007 4:50:33 PM
^ actually playing.
4/18/2007 5:10:49 PM
4/18/2007 6:01:44 PM
how many people play at once per team?
4/18/2007 7:37:22 PM
colonial baptist church...i go out there and kick around a lot...2 big fields and not many people around
4/18/2007 7:39:52 PM
I possibly would be interested, contingent on it not being at Soccer Dome, and I am serious about playing when I do play (ask anyone who's played with me)
4/18/2007 7:49:49 PM
6 people a side, 5 field 1 keeperi would suggest getting 8-10 cause people dont show up sometimes
4/18/2007 10:18:17 PM
personally, if I played 50+ for a season, I'd show up to every game. early.but thats irrelevant because I couldn't play during the summer.
4/18/2007 10:50:09 PM
whats the deal with all the bitching about the cost?I'm not aware of a single soccer league in raleigh that costs less that 700 a team.i've never played at the soccer dome but...played one season at the carolina sports plex out in morrisville - the league is alright but easily the worst of the arenasplayed the past 4 seasons at the factory - fairly nice arena - easy to get pissed off about the reffing(maybe only one good ref), other teams(red cards are common and we have almost had a brawl after a game - and thats coed), or the organization of the league(johnny is a moron)tasl - if you do the summer heat you play a short field with 7 on a side, not to mention half the fields are artificial turf now so it would be fairly similar to indoor, but this would prob cost more
4/18/2007 11:39:49 PM
^Maybe 700 a team is normal for soccer, but that's WAY more than most sport leagues. The baseball & softball leagues only run ~425 & they have more players.I don't know about you, but 80-90 a person for a 6-7? week league is alot to some people.I'd play if you needed a keep, but I couldn't pay more than 50.
4/19/2007 12:40:21 AM
4/19/2007 6:53:50 AM
^^ you will probably get around 10 people on a team and most leagues are at least 8 weeks long. i can't think of any reason why it would be that much more expensive that baseball either, but its the average rate of any of the leagues around here.^ I never dealt with Sarah or Andy I can't imagine anybody having problems with scheduling like Johnny does- scheduling games christmas eve- scheduling games new years eve- scheduling games on easter then rescheduling during the middle of the week without telling anybody- scheduling us to play a single team 4 times in one season in an 8 team league- consistently releasing the game schedule over the same weekend the games are actually starting- completely redoing the schedule 3 weeks into the season because it wasnt until this point that he realized a team had not paid yeti'm sure one of the refs you are talking about is the white haired guy. He is a great ref. The fat guy is atrocious. Pedro's been the ref for the other half of the games because they can't get anybody else to come out there. Oh and johnny is easily the worst of any ref.
4/19/2007 8:37:25 AM
^ What team do you play for? I'm on NRFC.[Edited on April 19, 2007 at 8:49 AM. Reason : and Andy used to do all of those exact same scheduling things]
4/19/2007 8:48:43 AM
I'd gladly play but I'm already on another team at Soccer Dome. The place isn't the greatest facility wise, but its a decent work out. The scheduling can be a bit of a pain at times but not huge issues really over 3 seasons I've played out there. I would advise at least 10 people per team though because people will have schedule conflicts from time to time. I think we're carrying 11 this season and we've usually had no trouble having at least 2 subs. Unless you have some really good players though I would advise starting in a lower league until you figure out what you've got (coed-b or mens-c) because there are actually a good number of pretty skilled players that play out there.
4/19/2007 9:55:55 AM
i agree with everything mienutzich said about the factory i have the same complaints - hell i actually tried to just not pay this time to see if anyone would bitch and i made it about halfway through and the only reason he caught me is because i was on the house team last league and he just carried everyone over and assumed i was there - if i wasn't ever on the list i would have been okayi was putting on my socks getting ready to head out for the game on easter - mad we had one scheduled - when i got a phone call from a friend telling me there wasn't a game and the schedule i had from the beginning when the league started had changed...
4/19/2007 10:12:28 AM
anybody played at http://www.sandhillssportscenter.com/?I am interested because I live in Fayetteville and this would be more convenient than a drive to Raleigh every week.
4/19/2007 10:56:12 AM
^ I've never heard of that and I'm from Fayetteville. How far is it?
4/19/2007 1:04:49 PM
it's in aberdeen about 30 minutes away. Right now I am playing for a team in the adult league out at jordan soccer complex. Lots of fun, but I would like to get an indoor team going.
4/19/2007 1:32:18 PM
I've played in that adult league at Jordan Soccer Complex the last few years. I haven't played at all this year cause I can't be in Fayetteville every sunday.
4/19/2007 2:47:06 PM
Soccer Dome is like 5 mins from my house.
4/19/2007 2:50:09 PM
kiljadn - oprah's book club, the ones that keep betting Rico and Pedro on the games.
4/19/2007 8:40:26 PM
ahahah we beat you guys sunday which dude are you?
