How the fuck is a 3800lb coupe the top (tied) pick for "driving purist"? Thats crap.

Given a choice from cars on this list, I'd pick an SL 65 AMG for DD and the Ferrari 430 for play. If I had to pick just one, then the 430.

And I have a hard time seeing the SL65 as a "chick car" given that it has the most powerful engine available in the US mrket.

gallardo would have been a better choice, much better, than the DB9. or the 911, but maybe the 911 is not considered "sexy".

^^ lexuses are awesome at being daily drivers. if you were doing say 50 miles daily of city and hiway driving, lexuses are awesome. they have got more creature comforts than a lot of german cars, and have the industry's best sound proofing. also don't have a harsh ride like similar german cars.

and btw, what's the right ethnicity for a lexus in the US? blacks?

arabs love lexuses. lexus ls 400/430 is probably the most sold large luxury car in rich gulf arab countries. and now the ls 460 is becoming very common too. oh, and es 300/330/350 is probably number 2.

yeah the GS is not far behind in sales here.

forgot to say, LX 470s and RX 300s/330s dominate the SUV market here in arab countries.

as i said, arabs are all about TEH LEX.

and we never got the IS 300 before, and even the new one, we aren't getting IS 250/350, but an IS 300. so it is the new body with the old motor

i bet if the old body were sold here, it would be all over the place.

Yeah... I can't see mom's driving any AMG's... More like 5-10% could if they were a MILF, but honestly, they would probably a week later after crashing into a concrete barrier because they were talking on a cellphone, cut 4 lanes of traffic, hot coffee in the lap, putting makeup and racing at 100mph to get to a board meeting.

I do like the SL65 AMG, but I would go with a Veyron and an Enzo (One that's not been handled by Eddie Griffin).

1 car: Ferrari F430 (although I'd like to drive the 599 to compare. That would be the only way I could decide)
2 cars: 430 and 599

I like the addition of the McLaren F1 LM and would most certianly pick that if it were on the list. I'd also like to add the Caparo T1. Even though there is little info about it as of now, it is already one if (if not the) car(s) at the top of my wish list.

And I didn't understand why the DB9 was on there either. I think it's one of the sexiest cars currently produced but wouldn't put it anywhere near the top of my list of cars for driving puriest.

sure, i never said they were exciting. i just said that for a regular joe, they are awesome daily drivers, esp if you are doing a lot of driving daily.

but the new IS-F may be the first non-boring Lexus. sure, it has a slush box, but i am sure it drives pretty well... wait for a magazine to get their hands on it.

the Enzo had the same engine, with about 40 hp more, and more importantly, weighed 500 lbs less than the 599 does. maybe the 599 has better aerodynamics, and better gearing...?

^ with ferrari launch control and a paddle gearbox i think the weight of the driver would affect it more than his capabilities.

there are hundreds of reasons why...
my #1 guess is softer front suspension and sway bar giving better weight transfer.
stiff ass suspended cars don't launch well.
i also don't know what the rear tire sizes are.
#2 is better conditions, cool dense air, better surface etc.

traction control =/= launch control
and he probably turned it off because traction control cuts back too much throttle.
but i see your point...
have you ever seen a show launch one of the new ferraris ? all you have to do is push a button and hold the gas down and shift (click the paddle) before she blows up.
