is this when they are changing over blends? or is this unrelated to that?

[Edited on April 14, 2007 at 8:12 PM. Reason : because it happens twice a year for changing blends]

Gas does go up every summer, but...

$4/gallon? I wasn't paying that last summer. I hope it doesn't go that high...

they've been saying it'll be $4/gal this summer for some time now... and the current trend supports that. That's why I chose the new job with the gas card

My 110 ain't gonna move once gas gets over $3 a gallon. people laugh that I have a Saturn as well, but that thing is a life saver on gas.

$4/gallon? Shit. So much for the Marauder as a DD.

Anyone got an old diesel Benz they want to get rid of?

^^I miss that car and the 40+ mpg on the highway. But my new car has 175hp vs. 100hp in the SL1, and still gets about 32-34 on the highway. The wife's car (Vue with the Honda 3.5 V6) only gets 20-22 highway =(

Wow. I get as good highway mileage as a Saturn??

Ha.

Still, $4/gallon is Not Cool. Worse since it takes premium.

^Don't get your hopes up, it is an SUV. The window sticker says 20 city/28 higway, but that was using the old EPA ratings. Using the new rating system, it is now 18 city/25 highway...

^^that's pretty good. i've read that the lbz gets worse mileage than the lly though.

my 7.3 powerstroke gets about 15 or so around town, but i stick my foot in it frequently and it weights ALOT.

my dad's 6.0 powerstroke is a hog. he was only getting about 13-14 around town, up to 15-16 now with the sct tune.

^lol, you don't want the dmv to catch you running that stuff. i hear the penalties are pretty stiff. not that they spend time checking light duty trucks though.

Dear bitches,
It is that time of year again and sumfoo1 is going to be laughing every time he hears someone bitch of gas prices. Because i no longer have my drivers license i have put myself into a situation where i do not need a drivers license. I can walk to work, the grocery store, 100+ restaurants & bars, 2 hospitals, 4 parks 2 hardware stores and many many more things...
So while you spend $$$$$$ on gas i'm just chillen @ the house spending it on more important things.
w00t
-sumfoo1

Btw... sumfoo1 has decided since there are plenty of e-85 gas stations around his house... his project car will run off e-85/e-100 because with normal gas being $3-$4/gallon + its cheaper to get the crappy mileage off the $2-$2.50 alcohol based and even if its just a tad more expensive.... you also get the bonus of +7 effective octane over premium is nice too.

ohh and my t-bird gets 9 mpg.... but driving that is easily worth it.

Christ guth, don't try to turn this shit into TSB, it's the garage, profit margin is going to be lost on most of these people.

Btw folks, this isn't just a "summer" thing.

Check this link

http://www.ucan.org/gasoline_autos/gas_prices/the_price_of_oil_vs_cost_of_gas_no_correlation

Quote :
"But there's a problem with that logic: Last year on this day, San Diego gasoline cost just $2.67 a gallon, and oil cost almost $2 more per barrel (source Energy Information Agency). That's right, on the same day last year gas cost 53ยข less per gallon, while a barrel of oil was selling on the NYMEX for $1.76 more than it is today."

There is something else at work here. The oil companies seemed to have purposefully pulled back on production of gasoline until the price went back up to the level they'd like to sustain it at. That's the only explanation I can think of.

It really pisses me off that Shell is doing this also, but god damn they have some good fuel

If this isnt a god damn monopoly I dont know what is, but the govt doesnt do shit about it

however Microsoft does this and offers us GREAT PRICING on their stuff and the govt has a problem with it

The news tends to repeat the same old same old about oil prices being high in part due to our refineries running at their limits all the time.

I assume prices are high because demand keeps going up and there aren't enough refineries to keep prices low (even with the oil there to refine into all the usual products).

did you read that article posted? I am not saying it is the holy grail of WTF is going on with prices but I can buy it until someone proves it wrong.

they are shutting down refineries on purpose!
