A co-worker of mine said that if the center snaps the ball to the quarterback and he throws it through the uprights, it is a field goal. is this true?He said it for two reasons A this rarely happens and also because the umpire probably wouldn't see it.[Edited on April 13, 2007 at 3:16 PM. I once threw a football threw the uprights from the 40. I was talking shit to some people claiming the arm I had since I was the high school teams catcher and they happened to have a football in the trunk. shut those fuckers up.

There is some kind of weird drop kick rule in the NFL.If you fair catch a kickoff or punt then you can send a kicker on the field to dropkick it through the uprights for 3 points.Someone might need to look up the specifics of the rule, but that is the jist of it
4/13/2007 6:05:51 PM
I remember that happening I think last year... I think it was on a field goal attempt... fumbled snap... ball was drop kicked through the uprights or something.

^ Flutie kicked an extra point using the drop kick two years ago in a meaningless game for the Pats.
4/13/2007 6:08:51 PM
yeah Flutie did the dropkick on an extra point but this is different. This involves making a fair catch on a punt or kickoff. Then sending a kicker out for a dropkick. If Im not mistaken, I dont believe the defense is allowed to attempt to block the kick.

^ yeah I've heard about that rule too. My post above was just to answer Oeuvre's post.[Edited on April 13, 2007 at 6:11 PM. Reason : sd]
