Can these hybrid batteries be found at any electronics store and do they still die eventually like most rechargeable batteries?[Edited on April 4, 2007 at 1:48 PM. Reason : ]

I have some Sony 2500mAh NiMH and they are awesome. I can get around 300 shots out of them with the LCD turned on on my Sony H2 camera. I also have some Panasonic 2300mAh NiMH and they are ok, I think they are starting to show their age though. I've had them about 3 years now and used them heavily in my previous digital camera. They still perform pretty well but not as good as the Sonys. I have some 1950mAh of the same brand that work pretty well in my Wiimotes and wireless mouse. I originally bought these at BJs warehouse.I think this site is a little dated, but it might be a good starting point for you: http://www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/BATTS/BATTS.HTM

Powerex NiMH

those are the l33test batteries i have ever seen.
4/4/2007 8:10:08 PM
those batteries are awesome, but who has enough usb ports free all the time?
4/4/2007 8:17:35 PM
Energizer 2500 mAh rechargable NiMH batteries. They extend the life of my digital camera over 10x how long it would run on regular AAs, plus they can be recharged.

Here is one rule of thumb:MAKE SURE THEY ARE JAPANESE.Don't get Chinese-made ones.Go for reputable brands, not some no-name bullshit. I know frome xperience.Sony, Duracell, Energizer, Panasonic, Sanyo, all good. I don't believe there are any other good brands.Note: some of the reputable brands might be made in Singapore or Malaysia, and I haven't had any experience with them, but I would wager they are just fine.I think it is more important to go for a known brand, than to absolutely make sure they are Japan-made.And go for at least 2500 mAh. Don't know what the capacity has been pushed to these days, but 2500 is an absolute minimum. And oh, we are talking about NiMH batteries here, not NiCd.P.S. Make sure to get a quick charger, which charges in 3-4 hours, as opposed to an overnight charger. I believe there are some new ones which even charge in 1-2 hours.[Edited on April 4, 2007 at 8:46 PM. I've had the Energizer rechargeable batteries, but I was very dissatisfied with them. I did a lot of research on this 3 or 4 years ago and the best at the time were the Maha / Powerex line. Their highest power rating appears to be 2700 mAh, but I assure you it will last longer than the other brands with the same rating. I still use the same ones from 4 years ago, so I would consider that a good return on investment. I think I got this, but I get something more up to date if I were youhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817108010

i have about (24) AA & AAA NiMH 2500mAh Energizer batteries.i've had them for 2+ years, all charge fine, last just as long as when i bought them.i've used both a quick charger and overnight charger, imho both work equally as wellcost me ~$2.32 per AA^no need to spend $10 per AA
4/5/2007 12:23:17 AM
Where did you get them?

quick chargers are 15-30 mins.i purchased a sony 15 min charger with 4 2500 mah batteries. decent deal.anyone looking for a charger should get one with a refresh capability. that'll lengthen the life of the batteries and keep them awesome.

I already have a charger. The charger worked fine, but the barreries didn't do so hot. I guess I can't complain too much. They lasted several years now that I think about it.Does the charger really matter. I understand the quick charger will charge them quickly, but other than that, is there a difference?[Edited on April 7, 2007 at 12:22 PM. Reason : ]

not really... unless yours is completely worn out, and so might charge slower than a new identical one, or maybe even not charge fully as it did when it was new.that bold part is speculation on my part. maybe some of the other members can answer that.i would say get the batteries, and then if your charger seems to be crapping out, get a new charger by itself.either of the two (energizer, sony) are fine. i have both, and they both have worked equally well.
