http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/632506.html24 pts, 8 reboundsco-mvp w/ ucla signee and high school player of the year Kevin Love and Corey Fisher from VillanovaMayo had 24 as well and didnt' get mvp...pretty cool stuff

I really think Sidney found a gem. If we can get a solid PG and a servicable PG from Degand, Gonzalez, and Johnson, I really think we could be a team to contend with next year. Julius Mays is supposed to be nasty, coming in 2008.
4/4/2007 1:52:43 AM
assuming this whole son thing doesn't change his coaching. i hope hope hope it doesn't, but i wouldn't be surprised if he did something like step down. fingers crossed.
4/4/2007 1:57:06 AM
there is no way he's going to step down when his son, who has already moved out, gets into trouble... he's going to quit his job and do what?
4/4/2007 1:58:54 AM
i don't know. but what i'm saying is, i have no idea how much of his time this is going to take up. what if he decides he has to devote too much time to helping his son to be an effective coach?that's my biggest worry, not that he steps down b/c has a bad image or something stupid like that.
4/4/2007 2:10:14 AM
4/4/2007 2:14:55 AM
WHAT...DON'T SPEAK THAT NONSENSE...THIS IS THE ACC...YOU EITHER COACH OR YOU FATHER...NOT BOTH!!!1111[Edited on April 4, 2007 at 2:21 AM. Reason : !]
4/4/2007 2:20:48 AM
^hahahaha
4/4/2007 2:34:01 AM
Let's not forget that his son is 21 and has been under his mothers supervision due to the fact of Sidney coaching in Detroit/wherever else. But anyways, JJ was a HUGE get for the Pack. Coster + McCauley + Hickson = One of the best damn front courts in america.
4/4/2007 2:43:44 AM
^spot on.
4/4/2007 3:29:54 AM
4/4/2007 8:04:38 AM
you all can call him a moron, but that would be some ncstate shit right there.
4/4/2007 8:17:36 AM
Please god, just give us an above average no turnovering point guard. If he is 80% of Engin, I shall be happy.
4/4/2007 8:55:16 AM
^^ exactly.
4/4/2007 8:56:59 AM
4/4/2007 8:59:37 AM
all i'm saying is coaching a team takes up a whole lot of time. what if he feels he needs to spend that time elsewhere? say helping his son not spend 20 years in prison? but whatever, call me a moron b/c that's just impossible, you all know for sure.
4/4/2007 9:03:49 AM
While nothing is impossible, Lowe is going nowhere. Even if his son is that troubled, it's not like Lowe is going to quit. Does anyone know a situation where they know a father who has quit their job entirely to concentrate on a family member who is grown?Hickson is a beast, and I still cannot believe people out there think he's coming to little Ole NC State, an NIT team, to not start.
4/4/2007 9:40:15 AM
I'm pretty sure Andy Reid's kid was like 17-18 range and still lived with him, so it's a bit different, his kids weren't "on their own".And yeah Hickson will be a beast. Apparently the media already has high hopes for us. One of the CNNSI writers looking at next year's top teams has his top 10 and then a list of "On the Fringe" and we're in there with 20 teams including Duke. Pretty impressive but understandable with all that we're returning and adding.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_blogs/ncaa_tourney/2007/2007/04/goodbye-to-gators-and-top-10-for-2007.html
4/4/2007 9:54:08 AM
we were an nit backcourt, not frontcout. you can't just start 5 big men
4/4/2007 9:59:43 AM
I'm not sure of this "we" business, I think you were an NIT team as well, but just got into the NCAA because of the name on your jerseyWhile you cannot start five 4's and 5's, you missed Gtown's team this year, they had a huge team. And I don't want to turn this into a thread of who he is going to replace, McD AA's don't come to NIT teams to ride the pine, especially if you think he's one and done, which I do not, I think he will stay 2, I didn't event hink Bosh had that great of a season or showed ridiculous pro potential his fresh season.[Edited on April 4, 2007 at 10:04 AM. ^^ so you say that you don't think hickson is going in one year, and to support this you give an example of a guy who you didn't think would go in one year, but did?
4/4/2007 10:09:54 AM
4/4/2007 10:12:16 AM
That is going to be one helluva frontcourt.
4/4/2007 10:18:31 AM
come December, IT'S GON RAIN
4/4/2007 10:18:55 AM
and thats Ollie with the BlackUWeather forcast...
4/4/2007 10:23:03 AM
I'd just like to say that expecting lowe to step down is retarded...kkthx
4/4/2007 10:26:05 AM
Lowe is coming back, can we just end that nonsense talk? back to the topic at hand... J.J. Hickson is a beast!!!111oneone
4/4/2007 10:33:34 AM
so you think duke will start smith singler and king?

the perfect situation would be if one of these potential point guards turns out to be1. a good interior passer2. pushes the ball up court quickly2. makes a low number of turnovers 3. around 40-50% three point accuracy 5 - 10 attempts per game
4/4/2007 12:27:38 PM
That puts us top 15 and top 2 in the ACC instantly.
4/4/2007 12:31:25 PM
we just need somebody who can help the big 3 get around 15 - 20 points per game each and then between fells, grant, horner, and the whatever pg emerges we should be a really high scoring fast pace team
4/4/2007 12:36:44 PM
^^^, ^^ Don't hold your breath. My projections:Degand will be similar to Cliff Crawford (very fast but turnover prone and out of control on the break)Johnson will be similar to Dom Mejia (SG trying to play PG)Gonzalez will be similar to FrO'Donnell (pure PG, but not quite ACC-caliber)[Edited on April 4, 2007 at 12:38 PM. 4/4/2007 12:38:16 PM
4/4/2007 12:44:39 PM
^hahahaha, kinda hard to compare when you haven't even seen them play yet.
4/4/2007 12:45:36 PM
How do you arrive at those conclusions without having a clue about these guys?
4/4/2007 12:46:12 PM
4/4/2007 12:48:10 PM
4/4/2007 1:24:26 PM
We better make the most of Hickson next year because it's the only year we're going to have him
4/4/2007 1:32:09 PM
"Life in the fast lane". I'll take all the one year studs we can convince to spend a couple semesters in Raleigh.
4/4/2007 1:56:26 PM
Do you guys predict J.J. Hickson will start at center, or just get lots of PT as the 6th man? First scenario would push Fells to the 6th man.
4/4/2007 1:58:36 PM
what makes you think jj will be here for only a yearim going to give him atleast two years
4/4/2007 1:59:55 PM
i'd rather fells start over grant if it came down to thathes a better shooter and passer than grant IMO
4/4/2007 2:02:55 PM
4/4/2007 2:08:16 PM
^He'd still have to have a great year, which isn't neccessarily bad for us. If he has a great year, the team does big things, so it's good either way.
4/4/2007 2:16:23 PM
JJ is/was the 3rd best center according to scout. Now that the ice has been broken, there's now way Gavin gets benched as the lone senior, that's just crazy talk, no matter how many times he passes it to the other team/the sideline/no onei n particular. He can be the leader we need if he wants to be. All I know is that practice next season is going to be very intense, and Lowe won't have to take crap from anyone taking defensive plays off, and before anyone comes crying to any certain player's defense, I'm talking about taking plays off defensively in the first half of many games (and of course well into the second half, but I'm willing to concede playing 7 bodies late in the year had somethign to do with that). I'm really not concerned with how player X shut down the opposing team's best player one night, and then let a scrub work him the next, consistency is what we need
