4/2/2007 7:32:39 AM
i knew something was up last week when i passed by and saw a couple of people inside
4/2/2007 7:43:38 AM
Worst...barbecue...ever
4/2/2007 7:45:58 AM
this is a step in the right direction. This place is delicious.
4/2/2007 7:52:53 AM
I went to Parkers in Wiltson the other day.
4/2/2007 7:53:53 AM
FUCK A MEMPHIS STYLE
4/2/2007 7:55:43 AM
It's been a while since I've been to Raleigh. I can't believe that Darryls is still empty. That place closed down 4 or 5 years ago.
4/2/2007 7:56:15 AM
i guess it's better than a vacant building, but i'm not going to go thereit's not the right bbq
4/2/2007 8:06:48 AM
This place is delicious.if you like feces
4/2/2007 8:19:30 AM
im bigger on the ribs than the BBQ
4/2/2007 8:26:23 AM
4/2/2007 8:33:21 AM
need to add some vinegar bbq to that menu, and ill be there every week.Smithfields is the best Ive had around here, ever since bbq lodge went down.RH&B has some good ribs though, I will give them that.
4/2/2007 8:40:16 AM
I can't imagine this staying afloat for more than a year.
4/2/2007 8:42:09 AM
i love red, hot & blue!!but i'm from the north, so that might explain it
4/2/2007 8:43:56 AM
Smithfields is a HORRIBLE chain restaurant. some of the worst BBQ i've ever had. (and by BBQ, i mean eastern nc style bbq)and BBQ lodge isn't around anymore? sad. we used to go there in high school.
4/2/2007 8:45:15 AM
4/2/2007 8:45:47 AM
Is it not possible to be from the south and like both vinegarry eastern NC style BBQ and memphis style red sauce BBQ? Where is the love?
4/2/2007 9:05:05 AM
4/2/2007 9:08:02 AM
^^no, it's not. GTFO.
4/2/2007 9:15:53 AM
remember, the fat guy knows his food.or you could argue that he's fat because he's indiscriminate about what he shovels down his maw
4/2/2007 9:23:08 AM
Can anyone explain how this chain stays afloat in NC? Words cannot express how irritated I was to find them providing bbq at the Carter. If I tailgated hard enough to make their "Q" tolerable, I wouldn't make it into the game.Red, Hot, and Blue is about 3 notches below what they had at Q Shack. Maybe they know something we don't. I really wish Blue Moon BBQ had stayed afloat, but noone notices that location...Blue Moon and Alfie's were my favorites on Hillsborough Street in their day.
4/2/2007 9:33:19 AM
4/2/2007 9:36:17 AM
Quick, make it better! They actually have barbecue down here!
4/2/2007 9:36:26 AM
4/2/2007 9:40:01 AM
cooper's is by far the best in raleigh.I don't understand the hate on Smithfield's. Sure they're a chain, and it's not the greatest eastern NC style BBQ you can get, but it's still infinitely better than most of the shit out there.
4/2/2007 9:40:35 AM
RH&B actually provides a vinegar-based sauce on their tables so you can give your BBQ a touch of the eastern NC flavor...I've never made a meal of RH&B BBQ, but ive never been against the style they serve...I did like the Q Shack.
4/2/2007 9:43:03 AM
I dont mind RH&B.Smithfields is pigshit[Edited on April 2, 2007 at 9:57 AM. Reason : and Coopers and maybe Ol' Time BBQ are the best we have.]
4/2/2007 9:54:07 AM
imho, bullock's is the best in the triangle..[Edited on April 2, 2007 at 9:59 AM. Reason : rh&b is good, just different...]
4/2/2007 9:59:24 AM
I don't give a damn about their BBQ, but more power to them if they can get that end of Hillsborough hopping again. I despise UNC, but I'd be great to actually have some places (other than cheap pizza joints and coffee houses) on Hillsborough like the hole have with Franklin St. A Buffalo Wild Wings or something similar would go over well on that end as well.
4/2/2007 10:01:43 AM
ive always said that smiffields is the McDonalds of bbq.[Edited on April 2, 2007 at 10:03 AM. Reason : and i dont eat McD's]
4/2/2007 10:02:51 AM
UGH- Bring Back Darryls! I loved that place.... but RH&B is gross. I agree with whomever said they'll only stay afloat maybe a year. If Qshack couldn't stay in business, what makes RH&B think they'll do well here?? Since they first opened on Falls of the Neuse, I've been there once. A plastic bag had gone through the cole slaw shredder and comprised about 50% of the slaw I was served & their BBQ wasn't good, either FYI: Barbecue Lodge still exists!!! (atleast the one on Capital Blvd is still open & they still do lots of catering!)

4/2/2007 10:07:25 AM
Some things I'd like to see on Hillsborough1) An English-style pub (with wood interior)2) A german/Bavarian style pub3) A swankylike sports bar (Like Damon's or Carolina Ale House) that is still affordable for students and has an NC State theme...like "The Pack house" or "The Den", "The lair", etc...4) a strip club ( )
4/2/2007 10:17:34 AM
I'd like to see more pizza places
4/2/2007 10:33:36 AM
Mitch's and Players Retreat pretty much fills the first two slots and will beast anything.
4/2/2007 10:33:38 AM
another shitty food place great[Edited on April 2, 2007 at 10:43 AM. Reason : .]
4/2/2007 10:43:42 AM
put me down for 8 months
4/2/2007 10:46:14 AM
I just remembered we used to have a Red Hot & Blue in Jacksonville, but it is no longer. I think there's a Chili's where it used to be.
4/2/2007 10:51:06 AM
I got it, WE NEED A HOOTERSB/C nothing will perpetuate the grassroots/GOB image of NCSU more than a damn Hooters right on Hillsborough[Edited on April 2, 2007 at 10:54 AM. Reason : .]
4/2/2007 10:53:15 AM
God I love Red Hot and Blue. I ate there all the time when I was a kid. It's not vinegar based bbq, but you can't really compare the two. They're both different, and I love them both!
4/2/2007 11:18:40 AM
Red Hot and Blue was the shit back in the day, now it is shit
4/2/2007 11:29:14 AM
i don't know about "grassroots/GOB image" but I'd love to have a Hooters in walking distance, hell and maybe some of the chicks that work there will be in my classes
4/2/2007 11:30:06 AM
i really like red hot and bluethey have good nachosi go to the one on falls all the time it'll be nice having one right around the corner
4/2/2007 11:36:36 AM
4/2/2007 11:39:29 AM
Red Hot and Bluebad and dry and expensive at football gamessame goes for their restaraunts
4/2/2007 11:57:49 AM
Ole Time BBQ between Raleigh and Cary has some of the best bbq and hush puppies anywhere. Prices are reasonable, service is good, always a crowd. Coopers is an institution downtown.
4/2/2007 12:15:00 PM
^ ha, i just ate there 20 minutes ago.i noticed that the Raisin Ale sign didn't stay in the window longwhen did darryls shut down? we were having an argument about that the other night.
4/2/2007 12:36:50 PM
I still go to RH&B in Cary every once in a while and I think it is still great...
4/2/2007 12:39:01 PM
UGH
4/2/2007 12:48:25 PM
