interviewing mccain on cnn live right now...after the first questionjohn mccain- "uhhhhhhhhhhhhh...i dont know the answer to that"haha, made my day, and its only 7:30!the question was something around the lines of "the cancer funding has gone way down in the past 2 years, how did that happen if you were in charge(refering to republicans)"i think thats a question he should at least be able to make something up...not say "uhhhhhhhhhh"]

Kind of like how Barack Obama went to a Nevada Forum with every other Democratic candidate, and when each candidate was asked what their health care plan was, Obama was the only one who didn't have a specific idea of what he planned to do. He simply promised that he would release a plan in the coming months. Not to bash on Obama, because I really like the guy, but to go into that kind of forum without having at least a basic health care plan laid out shows the inexperience of his campaign.

True, but we're also still almost a year off from even the primaries... It seems early for anyone to have any kind of comprehensive plan, unless they're simply rehashing some previously issued plan by some previously un-elected candidate.

my overall point is most high profile candidates seem wonderful on the surface until they open their mouths and say anything with substance

They want to be intentionally vague so hopefully they can get their party's nomination and then once they have the more solidified support of their party as a whole come out with things that might have hurt them earlier on. Lets face it there are people who hate Republicans and would vote for any Democrat instead (and vice versa) but if given their policies beforehand they might not vote for them in the primaries.
