Well, just drove out to get a bite to eat from Wendy's, and decided to take the back road shortcut . . . . bad idea, apparently. Construction traffic has DESTROYED the road, and there was literally a big chunk of it missing I couldn't avoid. No sooner did I hit the bumps then my check engine light came on, maybe something shook loose or cracked. Its an '03 S-10, and from all indications its still running just fine. Temps are fine, fluids are good, no weird noises or anything visually wrong.Any ideas? Anybody have access to an OBD-II dongle I can use to see what's going on?

I exited a parking lot via the curb, got a CEL. The air intake box/filter got bent a bit. But I bet your S-10's airbox isnt that low to the ground like my car... but hey its worth a look. The reason for the cel was indeed the airbox/filter. easy fix[Edited on March 27, 2007 at 12:07 AM. Reason : .]

it's possible it just jarred a connector bad enough to lose it's connection for a second or something like that. could be a number of things. give it a week or two and at least a couple hundred miles and see if it goes off. as long as it's running fine, i wouldn't worry about it until then.if it's really bothering you, you can take it to autozone and they'll pull whatever code it set for free.

Sweet, didn't know Autozone did that. I'll take it over there and see what's up . . . . I usually leave the dash lights dimmed, so that super-bright yellow check engine light will drive me fucking nuts if I leave it be for too long.

ROUGH ROAD SIGNAL IMPLAUSIBLEget it cleared, proly just knock sensor freaking out cause of the bump

It spat a P0440, "Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction". So far it hasn't come back up again, so hopefully it was just something jarred by the bump (or my gas cap not being on tight, heh).

Shit happened to me over at Man-Mur. My exhaust was bent, so was the manifold and the o2 sensors got clipped.
