Is it possible to take first summer session, second summer session, and 10 week summer session in one summer if all your courses are going to be via the internet? I could be wrong about this but I beleive these are the three summer sessions, please correct me if I am wrong. Just trying to finish up and would like to pack as much into this summer as possible.

can't take more than 6 hours per summer session without a course load waiveralso, http://www.ncsu.edu

you can take up to 7 hrs a session. and what happens is the credits from the 10 week course count in both the first and second session. So you could take 1 (3hr) ten week course, and 4 hrs in each of the first and second sessions. Or 7 each session.there are really only 2 sessions. the 10 week courses take up both sessions.so with out permission, the most hrs you can take in a summer is 14.

Thanks that is what I thought it was saying on the website but it wasn't very clear. I appreciate your response.

^^ not necessarily.10 week summer session hours only count in your 1st summer session slot.

You can take two courses per summer session. After that, you have to have a course load waiver.10-week courses only show up in SS1, but you can still only register for one other class during SS2.For example, you can register for:- Two regular classes during SS1 & two regular classes during SS2- One regular class during SS1 with a 10-week class & one regular class during SS2- Two 10-week classes & no other classes during SS1 & SS2so the easiest way to pack the most into this summer is two regular classes during SS1 & two regular classes during SS2.

so you cant do 3 10-week sessions even though its only 9 credit hours, without a waiver?

LIKE I SAID IN THE FIRST POST

BE A FUCKING ASS WHY DONT YOU

i wasn't talking to you dawg

^ you were wrong in your first post. I just tried and was able to sign up for 8 hrs in the first session (including a 10 week) and 8 hrs in the second session not counting the 10 week. After that a box came up saying i needed a waiver and it canceled my request.

It's possible to take 9 without a waiver.I don't get why the course load options for summer are so hard for so many people to find/understand.

the p.e. does not apply here "if all of your courses are going to be via the internet."
3/25/2007 10:51:11 PM
^ everything was right in your first post. But I signed up for a 10 weeks course and regular 3hr course first session and it let me sign up for 8hrs during second session not counting the 10week course.
3/25/2007 10:54:45 PM
^the system isn't perfect, but it did cancel your request - because a 10-week does count for both sessions.^_^
3/26/2007 12:32:24 AM
no, it didn't cancel my request until I tried for 9hrs. It was fine with 8 in summer I (w/3 of those hrs being a ten week) and 8 additional hrs in the second session. It didn't count the hrs from the ten week course in the second session.see the photos in my gallery. The third one is what I got when I tried to add a PE after signing up for the courses shown in the first 2 pictures. The ENG101 course is 10 weeks.[Edited on March 26, 2007 at 12:56 AM. When did Study Hall start becoming so hostile? If it works, congrats. If it doesn't, and you want to do it, see your advisor.[/thread]

^^10-week classes count in SS2.I talked to my advisor about this three weeks ago and posted what she told me.[Edited on March 26, 2007 at 1:20 PM. Reason : ^who is being hostile?]
3/26/2007 1:20:03 PM
I was under the impression that it counted in ssII as well, and still am. Just saying that registration and records isn't counting it while you sign up for classes. Perhaps a mistake in the system, but it's letting it happen is all. And if it is a mistake perhaps someone should know, like firegrl23 who may actually read this.I don't think anyone is being hostile. I was really just putting off studying and figured i'd sign up for classes I don't need to see what happens. Then I was just sharing what happened because it contradicted what most of us (including me) think the policy is.

ok this is what i think...someone tell me if i'm wrong"10 week sessions count for first summer session, and not for the second summer session, BUT you can not sign up for a class in the second session that overlaps with the time of the 10 week course"[Edited on March 26, 2007 at 2:49 PM.
