just like the title says.

i don't know if i want my hair up or down, curly or straightened, etc etc. but i need to start looking at a salon or an individual who i can consult with.

i'd also want to hair my hair colored back to red. i miss my red.

i know there are a lot of recently-married, semi-recently-married, or soon-to-be married people on here. so help me out!

(and for the chit chat overflow... no, i'm not going to shave my head.)

Can't comment on much else but I'd say to wear the hair down.

Us guys like that sort of thing.

Salon 21 is a good place to go to get pretty much all you want.

Pretty much anyone there. I don't remember who helped my wife off the top of my head.

I don't know, but my fiancée goes to David Wade Salon on Glenwood--and her hair looks good to me.

^^ I agree.

i don't know what they do for styling, but i have a feeling that the design gallery on hillsborough st could help ya out. both brandi/y (i forget) and heather do amazing things. i know they're good for cuts and colors, and imo, it'd be worth a shot to ask them about styling. i don't know if it's something they do regularly, b/c i'm a fairly new customer.

I also needed someone, because I never get my hair 'done' and I was recommended Miss D (her name is Diane but when she was a teacher at a salon school that is what she went by and it stuck) and she is at the Hair Affair - (919) 847-8186
124 Wind Chime Ct
Raleigh, NC 27615

off of six forks.

I really liked her, and her work. In fact, she is entirely the reason why i see now why women want to pay real money to get their hair cut/styled etc. I know that sounds stupid but previous hair cuts i may have looked great walking out but the next day it looked awful. After she did my hair, I looked great. Also the friend that recommended the place has been to the some of the other stylists, they are all great.

now that i finally went to a salon to go back to blonde, I go to Stephanie at Hair Champs. Sounds cheesy, but she's really good.

I've talked to her about my wedding, and she will also travel to wherever. When we were thinking about getting married in TN, she was prepared to go out there.

And she's one of the cheapest i've seen when it comes to cut and color.

Matthew at Salon 6 (on glenwood next to david wade)
he's been doing hair for 10 years and does fantastic updos in addition to being a great colorist and stylist.

he's done my updos for 2 weddings (bridesmaid) and i've seen a lot of his work. He's done dozens of weddings.

for hair coloring : Cuc (pronounce it Cook) at Mitchells at the cary mall

im sure she does great hair-dos also, but ive only had her color and cut my hair, so i cant vouch for the special events styling
but, shes great and shes always done exactly what i wanted with my hair, so im sure shes good at it

6 gallery is great, downtown raleigh, on glenwood. ask for jen.

salon kroma in north raleigh is good. ask for deanna.

atomic salon on morgan, next to charlie goodnights, is great. ask for anyone...they rock.

Warren Scott off of Capital Blvd. by the mall

and the Douglass Carroll salon did my sister's hair...

And wearing your hair down would look pretty no doubt, but photography wise if you have your hair up, it will make you look taller/slimmer in photographs, which is something that all brides want, heh!

Why don't you do your hair up into a nest shape and stick tarantulas in it for the ceremony?

Thanks for starting this thread, Kitty B! This is great info for me too

I'm not sure about my haircolor for the wedding - if I should keep it reddish or go back to brown (medium/dark)

lauren, definitely go to either 6 gallery or salon kroma. my friends work there and they're absolutely insanely good at what they do, and on top of all that, the could use the business. see my earlier post, or call me for more info.

i went with deanna at salon kroma. not the most talkative girl (i probably drove her nuts, but i hate silence). anyway, i HIGHLY recommend the place

put up some pics in my gallery of the "trial run." she definitely kept going until we had what i wanted.

When I had my bridal portraits done, I wore my hair exactly like the stylist did your hair for your trial run. I think that it makes for a good compromise between up and down.

And two things I'd like to mention that I learned the hard way:

-Do not color your hair the day before the wedding. My wedding day snuck up on me and I ended up coloring my own hair the day before. Now, I have always colored my hair, so I wasn't worried about doing it myself. But I forgot that my hair always turns out really dark right after coloring and takes a few days of washing to tone down.

-Do not try to fight your natural hair texture. My hair is just as straight as straight can be, but I really wanted curly hair for my big day. It was a losing battle keeping my hair curled long enough for me to get down the aisle because my hair just will not hold curl.

yeah, i benefit from having natural curl. i just have to control the frizz. the "demo" looks very frizzy because that was the third styling, and so my curls were all broken up. i want to get my hair colored (back to the old red from several years ago), but we'll probably do that about 2 weeks in advance.

loose and simple up do is so beautiful with a little bit flowing. I would suggest my guy but he was not to my liking.
put little flowers in it.
