mechanical engineering is the best major at NCSU baby
3/24/2007 9:59:05 PM
only if you enjoy hating life
3/25/2007 12:01:59 AM
I'm going to have to disagree, for chemical engineering pwns mechanical engineering in every way.
3/25/2007 12:46:56 AM
yay for ME's
3/25/2007 1:40:32 AM
cEM IS WHERE ITS AT ABTBAT
3/25/2007 2:58:07 AM
NE > MAEsimple math
3/25/2007 5:04:42 AM
EE >>> [A-D]|[F-Z]E
3/25/2007 6:47:34 AM
3/25/2007 12:45:10 PM
3/25/2007 1:23:56 PM
yesin every way
3/25/2007 1:30:29 PM
nah, ME's dont have to take organic so it's better
3/25/2007 2:47:59 PM
yeah it was soooo great. I majored in ME, I have a great job because of it. BUT I would have to go with something else other than engineering...because you have no life in your last year
3/25/2007 2:51:36 PM
^agreed
3/25/2007 3:48:53 PM
i'd have to go with turf management on this one
3/25/2007 5:31:40 PM
^ agr33d. Turf is important.
3/26/2007 10:34:34 PM
Dude if you think senior year in mechanical is difficult, you haven't even tasted aerospace senior design. You have no reason to bitch unless you are in aerospace, nuclear, or chem engr.
3/27/2007 11:51:31 AM
^ I think you meant to include EE in that group, since NE is not as hard as EE
3/27/2007 12:14:51 PM
Hard is relative. I'm a EE and I can't imagine doing some of the stuff for MAE/CHE, but I know some people in those majors that can't imagine doing EE stuff. It's just what you're good at and interested in that makes it easier.
3/27/2007 12:33:42 PM
Uh OhThis has turned into one of THOSE threadsAll we need now is CHASS bashing Oh and I would have chimed in with "CHE is easy"But that was before I had taken unit ops labOr even gotten to MY senior yearShit's crazy, yo
3/27/2007 2:59:35 PM
obligatory "omg CHASS is so easy with all their stupid non-real majors"
3/27/2007 3:01:32 PM
ive been told by students and companies alike the ncsu's ME undergrad program isnt really that great, but that the ME masters program is one of top ones in the country.can anyone confirm?
3/27/2007 3:11:37 PM
bitchbitchbitchbragbragbrag
3/27/2007 4:21:07 PM
i came into state for ME...it def. wasnt for me...
3/27/2007 4:24:37 PM
why do Chem E's think theyre so much better than everyone else?
3/27/2007 4:25:15 PM
Because, well, they are.

NCSU is #6 in the country for undergrad NEand #4 in the country for grad NEonly out of a possible 33 schools with NE, but still...
3/27/2007 6:50:57 PM
3/27/2007 8:32:46 PM
specialized mechanics? i think not.
3/27/2007 9:06:34 PM
3/27/2007 9:19:54 PM
ME is the collecting grounds for those who can't cut it in AE.
3/27/2007 10:50:38 PM
sometimes we just stay in AE though
3/28/2007 2:47:11 AM
We build your classrooms.
3/28/2007 8:43:23 AM
Civil was a joke. I'm glad I majored in it though because I was able to only spend 15-20 hours a week on anything school related (other than my semester with senior design) and had a good GPA. I also enjoy the work I do so I guess thats a plus.
3/28/2007 9:31:35 AM
i would have liked civil more than ME probably
3/28/2007 10:56:18 AM
AE is just a specialized ME
3/28/2007 11:10:46 AM
3/28/2007 2:30:06 PM
3/28/2007 3:00:37 PM
I think travos4 said ME is the best major, not necessarily the toughest so I am confused as to where this arguement is heading
3/28/2007 3:27:41 PM
^^^what came first the chicken or the egg?
3/28/2007 4:06:13 PM
that adage is hardly applicable here meaning that it isnt applicable here
3/28/2007 4:15:25 PM
i hate me, i tried to get out but it was too late
3/28/2007 4:25:43 PM
i feel u on that one...after my first year i was like hmmm either rough it out and keep trying or just cut my losses and move on...i was like i cant spend any more money than i have to if i'm not sure if i dont wanna do it
3/28/2007 5:18:47 PM
^^^you're rightits more like building a housei have the idea for the house, i make up the plans...and then I hire some contractors to build it for me
3/28/2007 6:35:37 PM
how do you expect to refine your fuel without the machines that we design and build for you?
3/28/2007 6:59:48 PM
like i said, chicken and the egg
3/28/2007 7:13:48 PM
exactly
3/28/2007 7:17:20 PM
not to mention that there are other sources of energy besides refined petro, or the fact that you couldn't "refine fuel for us" without our machinery
3/28/2007 7:21:52 PM
this thread spiraleth out of control.
3/28/2007 7:33:40 PM
fine, but we're going to profit way more from developing the fuel than you are from making the machine--and at some point the need for machines will decrease whereas the need for the fuel/product/whatever's being made will stay more consistent over timeall in all, it just all goes back to the whole leader vs follower thing[Edited on March 28, 2007 at 7:41 PM. Reason : plus we'd design/build our own machine 1st to make sure it works before we told you how to build it]
