I am looking at an external harddrive that can hold about 80GB. I do not care about the speed of the HD. I just a reliable one for backing up my laptop.

I was looking at this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822334005

and this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136058

what do you think?

I would like to buy this from newegg so browse through their website if you dont think those two are good

they have a ton of em

[Edited on March 24, 2007 at 11:32 AM. Reason : i think im leaning toward the Western Digital simply because of the reviews and cost]

I've got a 60GB Western Digital Passport. Zero problems.

I bought mine at Best Buy since they seem to go on sale on a regular basis. After taxes it cost about the same as Newegg.

^ sure you could...but it wouldn't have been tiny

that said, for $100 i made a 100gb one that can operate on batteries and allows me to copy over my memory cards without a computer

^^

just connect your camera to your ipod (instead of using a card reader to ext. encl.)
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=19333F19&nplm=M9861G%2FB

or buy an enclosure w/ built-in card reader for <$20
