It's been for sale since some time shortly after the election of 1789.

In China, eminent domain is much worse than here, Kelo nonwithstanding. If it had been land that the Chinese government wanted, they would have taken it from her and given her below-market-value in return.Millions of farmers in western China have been forced off of their land with little compensation by local government officials. Of course, the courts don't do shit about it because of the pervasive "government first" attitude that communism instills. There have been numerous news stories about this in the past year. Where have you been?[Edited on March 23, 2007 at 1:09 PM. Reason : 2]

yeah except here the developers can persuade the government to kick someone off their land

Thats why I said "Kelo nonwithstanding".That was a shitty ruling which needs to be struck down. Nevertheless, it's nothing compared to the shit going on in China right now.

ok, but the pic is kinda funny considering its China

That picture actually reminds me of a case that happened not too long ago in DC. Some developers wanted to build a new office building, but one of the home owners refused to sell. They offered him some exorbant amount of money, but he demanded more and also wanted a part in designing the new building (he was a part-time architect). The developers gave up trying to buy the property, so they built the entire building around this tiny little house.
