Tonight I pulled up in a parking spot too far, or the curb was unusually high, or a combination of both. Either way, the sides of the front bumper of my Passat are not attached to the car anymore. The bumper isn't terribly bent or anything, it's maybe <1" out from the car on either side. I think the little connector things on either side got ripped so now there's nothing to hold it. I tried to push it back, and one side went back fine but didn't stay, and the other side is caught on the headlight.Where should I go to get this fixed? VW dealership? Body shop? Any recommendations? Sorry if the description was horrible, I don't know the names of any of these things.

The bumper is relatively easy to take on and off on this car.You could go to a body shop. There is a good chance that they can just put it back on correctly, and not have to fix any damage.

I don't think there's any damage, except for the connector thing.. whatever it's called. So that would be pretty cool if it wasn't too expensive/time consuming to fix. Any body shop recommendations close to campus?

Nace. Did you pick someone up? I was wondering how you didn't know you were up on the curb before you pulled out and I thought maybe you picked some people up or just really took advantage of half price SushiBlues that would make the car settle.[Edited on March 22, 2007 at 8:10 PM. Haha nope, no SushiBlues. No music, either, and my windows were even down. I really didn't hear anything. I think maybe the parking space was uneven, and the curb was higher than normal. It was a space on the end, if that has to do with anything. I've pulled up on curbs before, and I always hear it right away and back off with no damage at all, but this one really surprised me by ripping my car apart.

My friend did that in his mazda6, thought it was a normal scrape on the front curb till we got out and realized the front bumper trim was only held on by the top connectors like yours, all hanging off the front end. His were detached and only involved pushing them back in so it looks like new. See if yours really are ripped, go to the dealership and buy some (I'm guessing less than 40 bucks in total for the clips), and get someone to reattach them.

Went to the VW dealership today, and was told that I would need new screws put in to hold the bumper on. Will also need new somethings that are in the wheel well. Fender guards, or something like that. Had to make an appointment for NEXT Friday, and was told that it could run anywhere from $90-$200. Going to get an estimate before they actually start working on the car, because $200 seems a bit high. Do you guys think I should go to a different body shop that could maybe fix it sooner and for less $$?

^ your problem, should be around $10-15 tops in parts and takes about 10 min to fix

^Well dang, hell if I'm paying up to $200 then. Where should I go?

one of your guy friends, you dont need a shop. Although I bet if you bat your eyes somewhere like Gower's they could probably do it cheap and fast.
