For those of you who weren't at the game...their stadium was almost dead quiet the entire game. They made more noise during introduction than they did the rest of the game. I assure you that they only "boo" during the last 3 minutes of play and still I could have taken a book with me and not been affected.

I guess they don't know what basketball is about up in WVU. The game wasn't even sold out!

The reason why the boos seemed so prominent through the TV was because the announcers were right in front of their student section. And yeah they didn't seem to know much about basketball. They were booing the play where the guy pretty much hip checked Fells to the ground. Whether he meant to or not, it's still a foul. Also they booed after that one hard fought series under the boards where both teams were really getting after the ball after the 3 or so rebounds. They booed when Engin got laid out by I think Rouff, when Rouff just barreled through him. I heard some of them booing when Horner was on the ground after colliding with Grant's shoulder at the end of the game, but stopped fairly quickly once they realized he wasn't faking it, and then showed some good sportsmanship by clapping when was able to get up. My reaction when Horner got hit was, "oh no not again for him."

They chanted "USA" when Atsur had the ball....WVU has to be the university with the least amount of class and sportsmanship. I am not sure if you guys heard this, but during the NC State introductions, two of their "band" members come out to the floor with 5 different signs. "Who Cares", "Boo", "Go Home", "You Suck", and one more I can't remember. After each of our players was announced, the whole student section would say one of the chants on the cards. I just have to say "No Class" for the WVU university. I would personally be ashamed to be apart of that program. I am surprised that the university officials allow this, but hey, WV has 1,000,000 people but only 12 last names.

I can't remember at any time where we have had members of our band or cheering squad hold signs that said "you suck" for the fans to say in unison.

I mean, we might do it on our own, but it isn't University sponsored.

I think it was misinterpreted. I don't care what the fans say in the crowd, but when the cheerleaders hold a sign that says "You Suck", that's like our chancelor going up to the other school and telling him his school sucks. I mean fans can have any opinion they want, but the school has to have positive reinforcement.

My point wasn't that they said certain things...it was that what was said was sponsored by the University. Hell, NCSU fans are some of the most ruthless fans in the nation, and I love them for that. But the day a university representative starts one of thoese chants ----> no class. Their university officials should be ashmed.

It's nice to see that at least some people on this message board realize that NCSU fans do pretty much the exact same stuff as just about every other team in the country. Why?? Because stadiums are generally filled with 18-22 year old college kids who all act about the same. Didn't we chant about some guy from Duke or UNC having an STD a few years back?? Yeah, that's classy.

Oh, and seriously, think about laying off the incest jokes. They old and overused, plus you can drive for like an hour and get to WV. The difference between our jokes and chants are they are funny and only said by a few students usually. The university doesn't start the chant. Actually, West Virginia fans are well-known for being the nastiest and most despicable fans in the nation.

I had the misfortune of going to a football game in Morganton visiting a friend of mine. Worst fans ever. Grown men drunk off their ass cussing at anyone (opposing fans, refs, their own fans), oftentimes in front of their own young kids. Not just isolated incidents. Zero enforcement. It was considered par for the course there.

NC State and ECU fans are bad, but WVU fans are on another level. I went to a game in Baton Rouge and thought LSU was pretty bad, too. But at least LSU had a FUN atmosphere.
