so i was getting my hair cut today and noticed the guy paying the stylist before me. he gave her two bucks cash as a tip and she said "thank you, i really appreciate your kindness", etc etc. same lady ends up cutting my hair. i tipped her three bucks on the receipt and she didn't say anything. i'm guessing that extra money goes to the store? when i worked as a delivery driver for domino's, we kept receipt tips.

she might have just not looked at the reciept while you were still there, i'm assuming you used a cc or debit.[Edited on March 14, 2007 at 9:55 PM. Reason : .]

what is the normal percentage that you tip a hair "stylist"?

They prefer cash tips so they can get away with not reporting it more easily.

plus its not customary to look at the person's tip if it's on a receipt and then say thank you. If you want acknowledgement for your good tip you pay in cash.

^ I used to think the same thing, but I'm a delivery driver now and whether the tip is on CC or not I always get cash at the end of the night. In fact I like credit tips because people tend to be more generous, maybe it doesn't seem like real money ha habut I don't know how it is for waiters or anybody else
