So what is the deal with friends/family attending departmental graduations? Last year one of my friends graduated and he said that he only got like 3 or 4 tickets to give to his family for them to attend his departmental graduation. Mine will be held in Reynolds though, and I heard that if it is in a big place like Reynolds then you can have as many people show up as you want. Can anyone clarify this? And if so, will they still need the physical invitation or ticket with them?
3/22/2007 12:25:39 AM
The department should let you know how many people you can have if there is a limit. Last year my departmental graduation was in Witherspoon and we could have as many people as we wanted (small department also). Email your department head or the secretary for the dept. they would know.
3/22/2007 8:18:06 AM
yeah, the Political Science department gave us 4 tickets each. With that said, if anyone won't be using theirs, I need a few extras!
3/22/2007 7:53:49 PM
anyone know if we need to get tickets for family for the main graduation at RBC?
3/22/2007 8:21:33 PM
Is the Departmental Diploma Distribution an actual graduation ceremony, or is that just where you stop by and pick up your diploma? It sounds like people are having their family come to these things, but I find it odd that it is just called a Diploma Distribution and not a departmental graduation. So, what's the deal? Are we supposed to show up in cap and gown for the departmental diploma distribution? Thanks for answering my stupid question.
3/22/2007 9:26:35 PM
I have never heard it referred to as the departmental diploma distribution, always the departmental graduation. It is like a graduation ceremony but only for the students in your graduating senior class in your department, so yeah you do wear your cap/gown. They call your name and you actually get your diploma and everything.
3/22/2007 10:53:59 PM
I think i'm only going to my dept. graduation and not the main one..too many people
3/22/2007 11:31:16 PM
^be sure to ask your mom before you decide which one you are going to
3/23/2007 12:38:41 AM
you don't need tickets to the RBC center graduation ceremony.
3/23/2007 8:25:04 AM
last year they did not check tickets for my departmental graduation ceremony in the McKimmon Center
3/23/2007 8:43:33 AM
what's the policy on f'in up a class and having to retake during SSI ? will they still let you walk in may and just not give you your diploma or what?
3/23/2007 9:04:25 AM
oh i already told my parents..they are still trying to convince me to change my mind
3/23/2007 10:37:18 AM
I haven't heard anything from my department about the number of tickets available. Mine's in Reynolds though, so maybe there wont be a limit?
3/23/2007 11:56:28 AM
btttI can't believe I'm graduating. Seems like I just started.
4/3/2007 8:45:55 AM

PS From my experience, and for some wierd reasonCollege graduation is a much smaller event than HS Graduation.
4/3/2007 11:37:22 AM
that's weird[Edited on April 3, 2007 at 11:42 AM. Reason : ]
4/3/2007 11:42:26 AM
^^Agreed.
4/3/2007 11:52:19 AM
how hot is the rbc center in may? does the ac work?
4/3/2007 4:02:38 PM
I guess its because1) You know every single person who is graduating HS with you, and have for a long time2) Your parents can throw a much bigger party when you live down the street3) Everyone who attends still knows you pretty wellOnce college is done, it's basically about getting the diploma, going to lunch afterward, and then maybe out drinking that night.
