Im interested in purchasing a scooter because I live right near cameron village and school and think it would be much easier than a car.I dont know alot about them. I was wondering what my limit should be on mileage. One honda (50cc) that I was looking at has 3000 miles but its only a few years old.I dont really know if that is a pretty high mileage for a scooter or not.Any advice would be appreciated

get a bike, or be a man and get a motorcycle. Scooters are for chicks.

I've got a Honda Metropolitan with 6500 miles, but it leaks oil like a champ. I just picked up a factory service manual for it and I'm going to rebuild it with new crank bearings and a fresh top end.[Edited on March 13, 2007 at 1:11 PM. Reason : s]

If you are interested in your personal safety at all get something un-powered that you can ride on the sidewalk. If you are that close it will be good excersize and you will be off the road. Cage drivers are morons; they WILL hit you, and IMO the campus area is very risky. Lots of intersections and lots of people numb-mindedly doing their day to day. Motorcycles are great for bombing around in unpopulated areas but I will not use one for back and forth around-towning again.

mopeds are like targets. the more you hit, the more points you get.

i think scooters are fun but tey sure they can be dangerous aroudn campus. and with the new laws where scooter DUI = car DUI i dont have any more incentives to be getting one.

I know they are dangerous but I would probably take back roads and avoid hillsborough as much as possible. Also what are the rules as far as using them in the brickyard/ paths. Im sure you are not allowed to accelerate, but can you coast on them/ idle and are you allowed to hook them up to bike racks?

If you could average 25MPH it would take you 6,000 hours to rack up 150k on a scooter. That's like riding the thing as a full time job...8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year for three years.

he would ride it out to emporia and down to ahoskie from franklin every day, thats a few hundred a pop

3/13/2007 8:06:41 PM
there is no name to it. it started out as some stock chinese-made crap but after the engine swap, manual tranny conversion, and everything else i've done to it, it's actually a fast ass scooter.
3/13/2007 8:26:45 PM
hahah that is cool shit is it a scooter or like a moped with your feet on the side?
3/13/2007 8:34:06 PM
