Can you ship liquor from the U.K./Europe to the U.S. legally? Thanks!
3/9/2007 12:43:31 AM
well, that whisky got from scotland somehow...
3/9/2007 1:18:04 AM
Okay, let me put it this way....I am illegal to drink in the U.S., but legal in the U.K. Can I ship alcohol back home when I study abroad next semester without repercussions?
3/9/2007 1:19:09 AM
^ 'Cause you like to get bit quick as you can, right?
3/9/2007 3:03:37 AM
If you don't have any older friends who are willing to buy you booze then you suck and don't deserve help.
3/9/2007 3:16:02 AM
Short answer: NO.
3/9/2007 5:50:06 AM
haha, i love that uncle jemima's mash liquor skit
3/9/2007 7:13:11 AM
Long Answer: Yes, but prepare for a lot of stupid crap and you having to pay import taxes and confirm your age etc. It's just not worth it.

Another 5* Witch-Ay Woman thread!
3/9/2007 7:46:19 AM
Legally, its really not worth it.Logistically, its really not worth it for normal stuff (high dollar rare stuff, maybe)Just declare that its something else on the packing sheet.
3/9/2007 8:34:50 AM
^^^^ And that's per 'olume.

No.
3/9/2007 9:41:06 AM
i declare very little on the declaration sheet. and if it is clothes I bought, I'll typically wear them through customs. No way for them to know. hahahahaha
3/9/2007 9:50:04 AM
Legally... no. However, I've done this. If they know your package contains liquor, it will not be accepted by any shipping agency(royal mail, fedex, etc...). However, if you pre-package, and write something creative on your customs shipping sticker (e.g. glass bottle) they won't pay any attention. The second hurdle is customs on the US side. Packages are randomly inspected. If yours win the lottery (or loses depending on your prespective) and the customs folk find your liquor, they will take it and sent the remainder of the package on it's way. It's a craps shoot rather or not it will get through. I got lucky; most people do. If you package is screened and they take your liquor, there are no further reprocussions. The worst that happens is that you lose your booze. One peice of warning... it's expensive to ship. I shipped 3 bottles from Scottland to North Carolina. It cost around $90. $90 to ship @$200 worth of scotch was a hell of a premium to pay. The only reason I did it was because it was stuff I couldn't get in the US.The bottom line is, unless you're getting something really hard to find in the US, have an over 21 friend buy you what you want when you're back home.
3/9/2007 10:03:39 AM
Anyway, i don't think it has anything to do with the fact that you're underage

didn't some celebrity get put on the spot a year or two ago for trying to 'illegally' export some oranges from some exotic island?[Edited on March 9, 2007 at 10:17 AM. Reason : asdf]

^^^ and ^^ Yeah, absinthe should definitely be legal. I saw a TV program about it a couple months ago, and apparently, the winemakers conspired some years ago to make it illegal--but The Green Fairy still wants to dance.
3/9/2007 4:30:15 PM
that shit'll put your dick in the dirt, and i've only had the tame version....fyi, you can buy the ingredients @ most homebrew stores.
3/9/2007 4:41:11 PM
^ Yeah, but you have to be careful with that shit--and it's not really absinthe unless it's distilled. But there are ways to distill it without the supposedly dangerous effects of wormwood.
3/9/2007 5:18:49 PM
Can you order booze from Mexico when you are under age here and get it?Really you can't just go shopping around the world for the lowest drinking age and buy it from there. If you think you could do this then you are retarded.Pot is legal is over Amsterdam, can you order pot from there and ship it here to smoke, since you know it is legal over there?
3/9/2007 5:49:13 PM
absinthe, its the stupidest shit ever. There are plenty of other more potent drugs available. Stop being pussy wannabes, and get real.

Haha...I've had absinthe, and I hate licorice, so I wasn't really a big fan. I was mainly wondering about it because some of my friends who haven't been to Europe wanted to try it so I was gonna ship them some. I mean, I didn't really see the big deal, but I didn't drink very much of it either. It's not like I was gonna go buy 50 cases of Bud Light and ship them back just so I'd have them...agreed, this would be dumb. I can get beer here, I just wondered for the novelty stuff. Thanks for the info, even if some of it was conflicting!
3/10/2007 2:16:35 AM
^The real Absinthe is ILLEGAL in the US. I would not recommend shipping it back unless you want to get your butt in a lot of trouble. The stuff tastes like crap anyway. Oh and by the way, there's nowhere near enough wormwood residue in it for you to have hallucinogenic effects. Anyone who talks about getting a narcotic effect from it is a lying toolbag. If you're going to go to that much trouble to ship something back at least do it with some quality scotch that you can't get here.

i've brought back rum from spain in my carry-on, declared it--no problems. My parents have brought back liquor from the carribean also with no problems, but I don't know about shipping it.
3/10/2007 1:36:00 PM
You can legally do it, yes. But, you're wasting time and money just not getting those who want it here to ask their parents for it. And, have it imported from a abc store.
3/11/2007 12:28:15 AM
I get rum shipped here from Costa Rica with no problems whatsoever
