Sure they are solid. BUT THEY AREN'T REAR WHEEL DRIVE AND THEY DON'T USE THE L-SERIES STRAIGHT SIX, WHICH I ALREADY HAVE AN EXTRA ONE OF.

I want an 810 series. Not a damn 910 series.

I can get you an 89 SE Model for $1000, but you sound pretty set on the 1st gen.

NO FUCKIN' YOTER MOTER IN MY MAXIMA!

I got an L28 all ready to go in 'er. Head decked 0.040, ported and polished.

I don't know where I'll get a good header to fit. These bastards have a tight fit because of the steering shaft.

just get a univeral header kit, you've got a welder. might have to buy an aftermarket one anyway for the flange though.

L28 is too long to go in a 510. But an L20B will go. And you can make an assload of power with one. I would like to do a first gen 510 with this R200 diff or maybe the R180 diff out of a 200SX with the CA20E engine...it's got 4.11 gears.

And a F5S71C five speed. I gots a five speed that would work DANDY.

I had an 87 with about 277k miles on it. Damn I miss that car, sold it to some kid that goes to UNCC now. Much more fun to drive than my 93 accord. Wife says she's seen it on the road a few times.

FYI there is a Nissan junkyard just North of Concord Mills on Odel School Rd, that will probably have any parts you are ever looking for.

^^plumbing mightmare. You see how much room you have to play with?

I don't have time or money to mess with custom everything mounts. Though I have everything I need to fab custom engine mounts.

I'd rather use a Richmond 6 speed...but size constraints are many.

^yep. Basically a rebadged 810.

I like the '83-'84 Maximas best because the head, while having 42mm intake valves vs. 44 for the L28E engine, has a really nice squish high-swirl chamber design. We put one that we ported, polished, match-ported, and cc'ed on an L28E in my buddy's '78 Z and that motherfucker screamed. The N47 Maxima head, even with its semi-restrictive stainless exhaust port liners, is one of THE hot tips for a great running, high compression L engine.

Sad thing is, 10 years ago I had a diesel crank. If I ever do any of this shit again, though, I'll opt for a custom Scat fully counterweighted and balanced crank. Diesel crank is stout and has a 4mm longer stroke (83mm vs stock L28's 79mm).

I love the 510s, but they are damn near impossible to find anymore. I'll buy one if I find it, though.

I still want to do a 210 with a VG30ET out of a Z31.

^^^^ Oh I know, I was mostly joking, though it would be cool. I've heard the N47/L28 is a good combination... which carbs are you using?

Fer sure. I'll never have a carb on purpose again. Fuel injection is stock on the L24E/L28E (Diesel Kiki version of Bosch L-Jetronic), and even though primitive, its shitloads better than a goddamn carb.

If I was gonna use carbs it would either be Triple Weber DCOEs, triple SKs, or triple Dell'ortos.

Worst case, I'd use the stock Hitachi SU imitations. But they would have to be the earlier 4-screw piston dome ones. And then it would have to be with a custom fabbed triple carb manifold setup.

oh right, I was thinking the head wasn't tapped for injectors

All N47 heads (open chamber L28 and squish chamber L24E-Maxima) are tapped and notched for injectors and have the correct bolt pattern for the fuel injection manifold.

Some N42s have both carb and injection holes.

E31, E33, E88 heads all have provisions for carb only but can be drilled for injection.

P79, P90, and hydraulic P99 have injection only, I believe. P90 is the one I'd really like to work with a TIG and a grinder (close the chamber up a bit, maybe get a little wild and go with a 12mm spark plug).

So, the first DRIVEABLE one I find, either 810 Maxima or 510...that's what I'm shootin' fer.
