Finally got around to taking a few photos. Some of you may remember this thread:http://brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=417554Well, here it is:If you know of anyone looking for one, send them my way. If this thing sits around the shop much longer I'm going to have to drop it in something.

has it been rebuilt or not? \better question is, what exactly has been done to it?
3/2/2007 12:19:43 PM
I'm very interested! I have a 49' Packard with a 455 Big Block Olds that is screaming to be rebuilt or swaped out. PM sent!
3/2/2007 1:18:49 PM
Yea, it's an almost complete rebuild but it hasn't been bored or molested.Fresh rings, hyrdaulic lifters, pushrods, timing gears, chain, gaskets, starter, plugs, wires, coil, cap, mild Competition cam(the model number eludes me at the moment, but I still have the stock if that's your thing). Then of course the edelbrock performer intake is new too.Pistons looked good so I left them be.I inherited most of the parts from the former owner. He basically just wanted it out of the way.

i could possibly swing it, how much are you looking for?
3/2/2007 1:46:58 PM
^yeah, you def. need to save yours from that molestation with a chevy 350...
3/2/2007 4:48:00 PM
agreed
3/2/2007 5:10:31 PM
looks like just paint and some nigger ass trim to me
3/2/2007 9:02:36 PM
'49 Packard? Damn, that's pretty cool. Got any pics?
3/2/2007 10:02:57 PM
post pics to prove rebuild or i am calling bullshitbecause yes, I definitely remember the other thread..
3/2/2007 10:24:37 PM
I'm sure everyone takes pictures of every step while rebuilding an engine.
3/2/2007 10:50:42 PM
actually you might be surprised. especially in situations where you are rebuilding something in order to sell it... anyhow this "rebuild" sounds fishy as hell, new rings but no new bearings? "competition" cam?i would certianly be interested in buying it considering i could use a little more oldsmobile in my life right now, i dont know why this guy didnt just contact me first. i thought everyone knew i was the oldsmobile guy.
3/3/2007 1:05:52 AM
no, i'm pretty sure you're now the land rover guy... i need this for the buick derby wagon, lol.[Edited on March 3, 2007 at 1:11 AM. Reason : .]

both, but first and last will be oldsmobile guy
3/3/2007 1:11:42 AM
Better you than me

I didn't have a camera with me until the other day, but you can rest assured everything I listed as new is new. The shop I'm doing the work in is no where around here, so I don't have the box in front of me, but I'll check the cam model when I get a chance. Again, I didn't buy it, but I checked the specs on it a couple months ago and it seemed pretty mild for a 455.The bearings looked really good to me, smooth and tight. All the oil channels were clear. While the next owner is more than welcome to, I couldn't justify dropping ~$400 to replace them.Anyway, I don't really expect to sell something like this on here, and I don't expect to make much on it. I just always like to keep a little project going on weeknights to stay sane. In this case it was to take a bunch of nasty parts from a half dozen boxes and put them back in a form someone might need. I thought you guys might be interested in taking a look at the results, oh well. This engine may not be the hottest thing around, but it runs well and would be a solid starting point for a really mean motor. That's it for me for a week or so, peace.[Edited on March 3, 2007 at 8:44 AM. 3/3/2007 12:17:37 PM
haha, i missed the part about the bearings.wtf??
3/3/2007 2:06:43 PM
hey will this go in a porsche 944
3/4/2007 6:48:24 AM
wow. I remember ordering competition grade bearings for a Pontiac 455 for one of my boss's good friends who drag races two GTOs. They were under 200 dolla.where the hell do you spend 400 dolla for Olds bearings for the street?
