I am looking for someone who is very knowledgeable in *Local Politics*, assuming that if you are, you will also know a lot about national politics. Also, this person should have some entrepreneurial drive and enjoy reading about/ writing about politics. It would also be helpful to have local political connections (either with those in office or with those who help put people in office)

It really doesn't take "political connections" to get access to most local officials. Also, you probably aren't going to get anywhere unless you tell people the locality...and why you looking for them.

Haha ... great responses. The scale of the idea is national, but I would rather work with someone here locally for convenience.I dont really need an "in" to local politicians, but just need someone who can consult regarding an Idea I have. The opportunity is there for this person to be a continued part in the project if you are an entrepreneur and are willing to contribute, or the person could just act as a consultant to tell me how much my idea sucks or not.joe_schmoe... get a life [Edited on February 27, 2007 at 5:20 PM. I work at the general assembly, but this would probably be an ethics violation on my part unless I knew exactly what it was.

the question is what about local politics do you need to know exactly?i'm pretty well-versed with Raleigh municipal issues and ordinances, but there are huge differences between us and, say, uptight locales like Cary or some place more free-wheeling like Apex. and markgoal is generally right -- all you need to "access" local politicians is to call them or go to a City Council meeting (or spring up on them at political events if you're the political type)

I guess what I really want is a good way to get access to the doings of local politicians, in a way thats easy for someone that doesnt know the system really well to filter out the stuff that is irrelevant, and bring to light issues that matter, voting records for those particular issues. Is there something like this out there already?

what do you mean by local level? Do you mean county, city, town, or maybe even state?

haha ... probably ^^^ by local I mean district, city, county and state All of the above!! Might as well throw national in there too, but the real value I am seeking is at the local level
