http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/cycling/news/story?id=2776315I cant believe its still going on. In the beginning they made it seem like there was no doubt he was a doper, now its even harder to believe that they are still finding fishy things about this French lab that did the testing. The guys father committed suicide because of this shortly afterwards and if it turns out that Floyd really is a victim, this is way worse than Duke Lacrosse: its on a global scale now.... As a big cycling fan, I hate how this continues to hurt the sport... It's all phucked up, man ....

the guy's a cyclist, of course he dopes. it's dirtier than baseball.
2/24/2007 12:20:59 PM
I don't care if they dope up or not. It's fun to see the frenchys get their ass kicked by Americans in their own little race.

It's fun to see the Americans get their ass kicked by the Kenyans in their own little race.
2/24/2007 1:18:49 PM
it's fun to see the americans get their ass kicked by the japanese in their own little world baseball classic
2/24/2007 1:24:42 PM
it's fun to see the americans get their ass kicked by europeans in their own little sport of basketball because the nba's so bad.
2/24/2007 1:38:19 PM
We lost to the japanese in the American Baseball Classic?
2/24/2007 1:40:33 PM
It's fun to see the Americans get outeaten by a skinny japo dude.I mean think about that for a second. As a country of fat asses, we can't even win an eating competition.

cycling is a joke. next year Barry Bonds is going to enter the event with a 20" single speed BMX and win the whole thing while carrying Mark McGwire on his back.
2/24/2007 2:13:50 PM
2/24/2007 3:53:44 PM
I do feel sorry for Bonds though. nobody gave a shit when Mark McGwire was juicing his ass off for the record, but they made a martyr out of Barry. and unlike Landis, Barry has never tested positive for steroids.
2/24/2007 4:22:51 PM
People do it to Bonds becuase Bonds is a fucking prickThat, and you don't diss the Babe
2/24/2007 4:26:06 PM
i feel worse for landis. he's dumb and quiet and his dad killed himself. bonds has been a douchebag forever. hard to feel bad for the guy.
2/24/2007 4:26:27 PM
if you had a camera stuck in your face at all times and a reporter with a microphone accusing you of whatever allegation had just came out this week, you'd probably look like a douche too. When they do that shit to Randy Johnson, he just punches them. Do you think he's a douche too?
2/24/2007 4:30:42 PM
barry bonds has been an ass since 1991, long before any steroid accusationseleusis, you obviously know nothing about baseabll[Edited on February 24, 2007 at 4:44 PM. Reason : ]

who said anything about knowledge of baseball in this thread? If you want to just assume shit though, I'll be happy assuming that Barry Bonds offends you because he's 1000 times more talented without steroids than you'll ever be, and the fact that he's black makes it that much harder for you to learn to deal with.
2/24/2007 5:21:44 PM
baroids does not offend me

2/24/2007 5:47:33 PM
i didn't want to contribute toward making this into a Barry Bonds thread, butBarry Bonds's continued presence in major league baseball does in fact offend me, and it also offends Hank Aaronthe notion that Mark McGwire is even getting long-term consideration for admission into Cooperstown offends me, and the idea of a Sammy Sosa comeback tour also offends methe fact that Bonds is black might have had some implications as to how the media has covered his fall from grace versus how they've covered McGwire's, but I would say both have been vilified to the point that any redemption (at least for a very long time) of their respective reputations is now impossible - the reason you hear more about Bonds is because he's still in the game and he's going for the record of records - leave race out of this argument, because it doesn't belong hereoh yeah, and landis deserves to be buried, apparently just like a significant portion of cycling
2/24/2007 5:55:37 PM
I don't get the big deal about juicing in pro sports. I can understand the Olympics. I think there, the athletes should be tested heavily. But in pro sports? Fuck it. I just want to be entertained. Hell, if pro cyclist want to juice up, and die on the side of Alpe d'Huez, well that will just add a nice wrinkle to the drama that is the tour.
2/24/2007 5:59:15 PM
Yea but athletes who play straight will be out of a job.....
2/24/2007 6:16:36 PM
I realize that there's not much that's sacred - or anything that even comes close to meriting the use of that term for that matter - left in the commercialized world of professional sports that's presented to the masses, but if the basic foundation of an equal playing field isn't still intact, what's the point of watching or of the competition in the first place? I mean I see your point of view I suppose, that it makes for a good show - and it sure makes for great ESPN headlines, (Sosa v. McGwire, Bonds chases, etc) - but it sounds like you're looking more for the WWE than anything elseI may be a silly idealist, but I should wish that there is some hope left for fair competition without frauds like the aforementioned castoffs polluting the world of sportThe professional ranks are obviously the highest and best that each sport has to offer, and they should be policed the tightest[Edited on February 24, 2007 at 6:21 PM. sports have been plagued with rampant doping for at least 70 years now. the only thing that has changed is the TV coverage of it. don't fool yourself into thinking that sports will ever be clean; baseball is the perfect example of how sports bodies encourage doping.
2/24/2007 6:31:42 PM
i'm not naive enough to think that pro sports will ever be completely clean - athletes will always be looking for a one-up on the status quo, that's part of what makes them athletes - some will choose to do it with the medicinal routethey make for a faster and stronger game sure, i do understand that a faster and stronger game is more fun to watch - which is perhaps why the NFL in particular is being so ridiculously slow to act against the use of steroidsthe crackdown - especially on the international sports scene - has really gained steam in recent years though - hopefully it continues

2/24/2007 6:59:02 PM
that was a serious post, and you're full of shit to think you know anything about Barry Bonds other than what the media says about him.
2/24/2007 7:10:50 PM
the media puts cameras on a lot of people, and not many of them respond with even close to the attitude that bonds does. if you want to play pro sports, then you have to learn to deal with it.
2/24/2007 7:12:41 PM
you only have to deal with the media if you actually give a shit about what critics think. playing a professional sport is about athletic ability, not about media appeal. anybody that thinks Bonds is a douche because he's reclusive seriously needs to re-evaluate their view of the world around them.
