Big surprise there. A recent study has NYC #1 with $9.02 in local taxes taken out for every $100 of taxable resources. Thats 47% higher than the national average of $6.16. For comparison Philly is #2 ($7.16) followed by LA with $6.88.

I had a feeling...makes perfect sense.

did I make this up, or isn't there no sales tax on some stuff there? I remember buying clothes when I was there a few years ago and there wasn't any tax added to it.

im moving to NYC in the summer and my justification is that NYC is well over 47% cooler than everywhere else in the USA.

^good call, haha.

^^there is no sales tax on most food items, but not at restaurants. There is no sales tax on clothing items up to $110 for each item. I'm not sure about anything else. Oh, and most of these tax policies are the same in NJ.

We have the sunshine tax I am told. as well as sunshine prices. Our gas is higher than LA
