In piracy according to the RIAA.http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070222-8900.htmlAwesome!!!
2/22/2007 11:21:27 AM
Fuck the RIAA.not because I support piracy, but because they're like a fucking mob.
2/22/2007 12:01:16 PM
haha, proud to do my part... I mean... I'm not saying anything!
2/22/2007 12:02:49 PM
Wow, I wonder why we're so notable in this area.

Go NCSU network infrastructure!

I have terrible reading comprehension. I'm interpreting the list as the top 25 schools warned about piracy. The list ranks schools by notices sent. For all anyone knows there could be a whole host of schools that have more piracy but never get the notice.Ah... from the article:

2/22/2007 1:53:35 PM
I think thats a great tactic and a great service for the students. If the RIAA is serious, they'll bring a suit against Purdue, and I don't think the RIAA has the balls to go after anyone other than the little man.If they are so brazen as to bring a suit, then all Purdue has to do is say "ok, in that case I guess we will try to cooperate" to free themselves of any trouble.Fuck the RIAA.
2/22/2007 2:33:21 PM
i pay for all my music, it is only 10 cents but i still pay!!!
2/22/2007 4:03:48 PM

2/22/2007 4:33:56 PM
money grubbin fuckers...i think all these p2p applications have helped alot of musicians more than hurt them, they get their shit out and plus most artists only make like 10 cents a fucking cd. fuck RIAA and they arent gonna catch me downloadin dirty
2/22/2007 5:53:05 PM
i wish there was a way to track number of terabytes of pirated software/music/movies served. I think state could win that. or at least a few years ago it could have

Seeing TWW linked from Engadget is blowing my mind.
2/23/2007 12:12:49 AM
The real money is made in selling out concert tickets and those cheesy made in china crap you buy when you leave.
2/23/2007 12:56:40 AM
^^
2/23/2007 2:22:20 AM
how the fuck...getting news from TWW is like getting stuff from BitTorrent - in the sense that only after all the mainstream places have it does it come here.wonder how that happened.
2/23/2007 4:47:08 AM
So who has or knows someone who has gotten a notice? What happened with it?
2/23/2007 7:24:34 AM
^^ yeah, that's weird. So is someone on here an engadget editor? are we to believe that some engadget writer watches this site more closely than they watch arstechnica?
2/23/2007 8:10:29 AM
i found it...why wouldn't they jsut link the actual site that is linked in this thread?[Edited on February 23, 2007 at 8:21 AM. Reason : poop]

the arstechnica site is linked at the bottom (see the Read link).. when they say [Via TDub] all that means is they found out about the article at TDub.

you guys should see some of the replies we got back when we sent out the copyright violation notices.(i used to work for ITD/resnet here at state)there was one on my boss's door that said "sorry, i did not mean to download the mentioned Harry Potter movie, i was actually trying to download pornographic material."needless to say, he got off with a warning. literally.

I'm disappointed in the campus residents ... seriously if you're gonna make the MPAA's list, at least make it into the top 10! Now it just looks like you weren't trying hard enough.http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070402-mpaa-names-its-top-25-movie-piracy-schools.html
4/2/2007 2:23:26 AM
I wonder how we fare after they normalize them to citations/student on the campus network.
4/2/2007 2:46:01 AM
^^ Ivy League say WHAT
4/2/2007 6:37:16 AM
Would NCSU get on my case for copyright infringement for downloading a show put out by the BBC?
4/2/2007 7:06:36 AM
only if the copyright holder sends us a notification asking us to get on your case.
4/2/2007 7:45:23 AM
Hmm....I believe I'll play it safe and get it in the apartment off campus.
4/2/2007 9:47:36 AM
Haha she's the ResNet Coordinator for ITD. Ms. Levow is there any way you can route ResNet to my apartment so I don't have to deal with a shitty internet connection anymore?!? ResNet was the one saving grace about living in the dorms.
4/2/2007 9:49:56 AM
i read an article either last week or the one before where the University of Nebraksa was going to send a BILL to the RIAA for time spent on dealing with themlololololol
4/2/2007 1:39:08 PM
I posted that link in the RIAA thread.
