1 Oakland Raiders (Saddamizer) Jamarcus Russell, QB LSUSaddamizer takes Russell for the Raiders, which is the consensus #1 pick at this point. I agree this fills a need, but I feel the Raiders have so many other problems on the OL, WR and LB that a trade shouldnt be ruled out. But then again we're talking about Al Davis' Raiders and that would just be too smart of a move. Russell is 2-3 years away from helping the Raiders, but still is a solid #1 pick.2 Detroit Lions (BoobsR_gr8) Joe Thomas, OT WisconsinI took Thomas. Honestly these types of tackles dont come around too often. Thomas is more Boselli/Ogden than Gallery. He is athletic and will complement Jeff Backus well on the Lions' O-line for years. I could have gone defense, which is definitely needed, but I dont feel the Lions' greatest need on D would be solved by taking any of the linemen that are justified to be taken this high.3 Cleveland Browns# (DROD900) Brady Quinn, QB Notre DameDROD900 rolls the dice and takes Brady Quinn. I personally think this was a reach and that Quinn will never succeed as a pro QB. I guess the Browns like to pick bust QB's every 10 years to mix it up. I think that Gaines Adams, Jamaal Anderson or Alan Branch would likely do more to help the team than Quinn. The browns have to upgrade their D-line to stay competitive in a division with the Ravens, Steelers and Bengals. Charlie Frye is not as bad as people think, but he is definitely not the long-term solution. The Browns likely need to address their need for a veteran QB presence VIA free agency.4 New England Patriots (from TB) (BoobsR_gr8) Calvin Johnson, WR GT I took the opportunity to trade the Pats' 2 #1s (and likely more would be added if we could trade future draft picks) for the chance to get Johnson. Johnson will be drafted by the buccaneers or who ever gets this pick(whether it be # 3 or #4). The patriots absolutely can not go into next season with the receiving corps they currenly possess. This fills a huge void that seemingly has been there since Troy Brown started receiving social security checks. Johnson will be the most productive player in ths draft and could be every coaches' dream: a young TO without the attitude.5 Arizona Cardinals(Aristotle) Gaines Adams, DE ClemsonHonestly, besides QB, RB, WR and Safety, what dont the cardinals need? They made strides during the second half of the year, but they will only perform as well as their O-Line lets them. They would have loved a chance to get Thomas, and a trade with the Lions should not be out of the question. Aristotle takes Gaines Adams, who should be able to take over for the oft-injured Bertrand Berry. OT Levi Brown would likely be a better fit here.6 Washington Redskins(DROD900)Alan Branch DT, MichiganDROD900 nailed this one. The Skins ranked 27th in rush defense last year. Branch is a beast in the middle and has a motor that never stops. Yes I am a little biased because I am a UM guy, but I got to watch him play every game and he seemed to be in on every play. 7 Minnesota Vikings (wlb420) Dwayne Jarrett WR, USCwlb420 selected Jarrett with the 7th pick. This in my opinion was a reach. Jarrett has NFL size, but some question his route-running and character. I felt that the Vikes would have been better off drafting a CB or S, as their pass defense finished 30th in the league.8 Houston Texans (KyleAtState) Marshawn Lynch RB, Californiauser]KyleAtState[/user] surprises all of us and takes Lynch. Personally I dont think there is any way Adrian Peterson gets past the Texans. Lynch has even added off the field problems since their bowl game and peterson is the more polished back. The texans got lucky not drafting Bush last year to have the chance to end up with peterson, a rb that can handle the workload of being a typical NFL RB. Lynch simply doesnt have the speed of peterson, but would be a good multi-purpose back a la brian westbrook.9 Miami Dolphins (hgtran) Levi Brown OT, Penn St.Gotta have someone to protect those immoble QB's! hgtran goes with Levi Brown, who is a definite upgrade on the OL. The question is who's job will he take, as Carey and McIntocsh underperformed last year. Good pick.10 Atlanta Falcons (IIDX) Jamaal Anderson DE, ArkansasNo way the Falcons dont take Landry here if he is available. Their safeties suck. Lawyer Milloy was a good safety 10 years ago. IIDX takes Anderson, who is developing into a beast, and will be a definite upgrade on the other side of the line from John Abraham. I just think there are a lot of decent DE's left out there and only 2 impact safeties. 11 San Francisco 49ers(nutsmackr) Leon Hall CB, Michigannutsmackr fills a need with the best CB on the board. The 49ers desperately need secondary help as they allowed the 5th most passing yards in the league last year. They could go with a DE if they decide to stick with their 4-3 scheme, but if they elect to go completely with the 3-4, expect Hall to be a 49er 4sh0.THE REST TO COME TOMORROW

I personally think that if I could do anything different with my first pick (the Browns) I would've taken Adrian Peterson over Brady Quinn, just because the Browns are in desperate need of a 'big name' out of the gate, impact player. Peterson could be a dominant RB during his rookie season...or he could get hit by the injury bug and wind up being a bust. But to defend Brady Quinn, he is a roll of the dice, but after watching many Browns games last year (and talking to family back home in Cleveland) there arent many fans who are satisfied with Frye at the helm. Frye, in my opinion, is a good BACKUP QB in the league, not a starter. He commits far too many turnovers and should be lighting it up with Winslow and Edwards to throw to.Maybe the Browns will get lucky and Demarcus Russell will slip down to them
2/20/2007 9:09:00 AM
they already have a good impact running back.
2/20/2007 9:14:55 AM
The Browns could have traded down a few spots and still get Quinn. Teams like the Vikings and the Texans would give up a ton for Calvin Johnson.
2/20/2007 9:15:06 AM
I disagree the Browns need to get what is best for the team. You can have Riggie Bush in Texas but if you loose all your games then no one will want to go to the games at the end of the season. I would have traded down a few spots and gotten Quinn he was not going to go until maybe the Dolphins might have taken him.

12 Buffalo Bills (skokiaan) Justin Blalock, OG TexasWith the 12th pick of the draft, skokiaan took Blaylock, the first Guard taken i nthe draft. My issue with this pick is this. Why when you have the 29th ranked defense against the run do you reach and take a Guard probably 15-20 pick too soon. The Bills do tend to reach for the player they like, but I dont see how it wont be ILB Pat Willis or a player of the like. Offensively, the woes of the Bills were not attributed to the offensive line. A minor point-Gandy, the team's best guard plays LG, the same position that Blaylock played for UT. 13 St. Louis Rams (jdman) Lawrence Timmons, OLB, FSUjdman selected Timmons with the 13th pick. When you are the Rams and need a CB, FS, LBs, a DE and possibly a DT, you have to like the potential in this draft. You cant go wrong with any of the positions. Timmons should be a good fit for the Rams who will no doubt expect him to start immediately for their paper thin D. Anything should help the worst run D in the league14 Carolina Panthers (Nashattack) Adrian Peterson, RB, OklahomaThe most NFL ready RB to come out of college since LT drops all the way to 14 for Nashattack. If this scenario were to actually happen, there is no way he drops here. Someone trades up. But going with the mock, I do not see this as such a horrible pick, but you dont help your team at all if that makes any sense. I think Deshaun Foster is complete garbage, but Williams is going to be a good starting RB in a year. So this is the predicament. Do you improve the team with players they need or do you get the best player available because you can. I think if this were to happen, it would be Fox's last draft. No way they dont address the LB, DT or S positions. Dan Morgan will never be a full time player again, grab yourself Pat Willis or a replacement for the aging Mike Minter.15 Pittsburgh Steelers ( Førte ) Darrelle Revis, CB, PittsburghFørte selects Revis for the hometown Steelers. This definitely addresses a need for the steelers as they were often burnt deep and had to engage in shootouts to keep games close. It is not good when your best cover man is your strong safety. Revis should immediately start and has the size and enough speed to make a difference from day 1.[Edited on February 22, 2007 at 11:17 PM. Reason : .]
