Quote :
"Scottie Pippen is serious about making an NBA comeback.

Pippen, 41, hasn't played since February 2004, when a left knee injury forced him to retire. But he told reporters Thursday that he wants to return, hopefully to a contender that could make use of his experience in a playoff run.

He said he's in good shape, his knee is fine and he'd even be willing to sign a 10-day contract to prove what he can do.

"I'm not going to be a nonstop high-flyer like I was in my prime," Pippen said. "But I can still run. I can still dunk. But most of all, I know the game."

Pippen is in Las Vegas, where he will take part in the Shooting Stars contest during NBA All-Star weekend. Bulls guard Ben Gordon and Candice Dupree of the WNBA's Chicago Sky will be Pippen's teammates in the contest.

"I'm thinking of trying to come back for the playoffs," Pippen said. "Something like the last two months of the season, somewhere I can come back and play limited minutes to start, play point forward for someone and build toward the playoffs. It's something I've been thinking about for the last three months."

Pippen said he'd like to eventually become an NBA coach and would be willing to apprentice as an assistant as well.

''But I'd like to play first," he said. "I feel I still have a year and a half of basketball left in me if I'm put in the right situation. I'd even be willing to sign a 10-day contract. At least that would be a start. I just want a chance to show that I can still help a team.''"

he's 41, he could still ball a little as long as that knee doesnt start up with him again like it did with the Blazers

does he need money or is he just extremely bored, this guy was a great player when he had Jordan on his team, but seriously?

^ He was a great player when Jordan wasn't on his team too.

But that was over 10 years ago.

but with who, San Antonio?

Miami?

Detroit doesnt need experienced help, they already have it

i could see him helping the Cavs more than anyone else

Ya, the Cavs are really the only team I could see him being of any use for, & even then I'm not sure.

Ive been sitting here thinking about it

and the more i do, the more since the Cavs would make

that experience is what they lack

and they are going to have a legit shot this year.

No way to the Cavs. They're not really a young team I mean besides Lebron and they don't look like a place I'd want to sign if I was HOFer.

I don't know how much he has left but I think he'd probably want to go the Lakers to be with PJ and Kobe since Pippen was the king of the triangle offense and the Lakers need some veterans.

Who knows what he has left? He could be alright he's not Malone/Stockton ancient.

i could see the Lakers working as well

and even better after they make this trade and bring in Jason Kidd

think about Kidd, Odom, and Bryant running the Triangle

I can see Pippen helping a team like the LA Lakers too. He knows the Triangle offense. I think he could provide extra leadership alongside Kobe.

The Cavs seem obvious because it looks like LBJ and only him. Unfortunately, the Cavs are kinda tied up as far as salary cap, and they probably couldn't sign anyone else, unless it's for the league minimum.

San Antonio needs to get younger rather than older. They could use Pippen as a role player behind Bruce Bowen, but I don't see it happening.

Miami? They just signed Eddie Jones. Signing Pippen would just take minutes away from Jason Kapono, who is doing an excellent job this year.

Detroit? They're good. They don't really need him like hunterb2003 said.

Personally, I wouldn't want Pippen to come back. He's already a HOF'er, and there's nothing else he can prove. Take your rings, your significant other, and your money so you can move to South Beach where you can watch the Heat defend that title in June.

remember when the Wizards had Jordan and all of the rumors were swirling that they were going to bring Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing out of retirement to play.

I WAS LIKE.....

MAKE IT HAPPEN.

BUT NOT FOR THIS.

if Shaq can just hold back a little the rest of the regular season, he will beast CWebb, but that might not be a conference finals matchup, it would take a lot for it to happen, but it could

that said, I dont doubt Pippen can still play

and I would like to see him get another shot, just like i wanted to see Shawn Kemp and Dennis Rodman get their one last chance but they never did

What about the Wizards???

Nobody mentioned them, they are mostly younger guys and need a leader as Eddie Jordan has pointed out.

Jamison is hurt right now, but he will be back for the playoffs

so you are saying play

Arenas
Butler
Pippen
Jamison
Haywood

hmm, that could work with limited minutes by pippen

LaLa still sounds like a better fit because of the Zenmaster

Haha Sir Charles tells it like it is:

Quote :
"NO, he can't make any team better."

Too old, and Scottie was basically crap after Jordan retired. I predict he makes even less of a contribution than Mitch Richmond the Laker.
