I was working on a thesis paper this morning which i finished and saved the drive. My laptop battery went dead and now when i try to access the file, it shows it on the harddrive but i get this error message trying to recover it. The error message tells me that i either do not have permission to open the document or the file type is invalidif anyone can help me with this, i need this printed by 1:30.Microsoft wont help me because my product is out of warranty[Edited on February 15, 2007 at 12:03 PM. The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions.*check the file permissions for the documents or drive*use the file open dialog box to locate the document.(C:\...My Documents\TechHW2.doc)

try opening it with another word processor.openoffice.

check file permissions and try to transfer the file to another machine for viewing.

right click the file, properties, security tab.

Take it to ITD and have them take a look at it if its important. Or find the IT person in your department or college.

i was able to recover about a third of it with DocRepairno such luck otherwise
