Didn't see it anywhere else

this sounds like a great idea, and I think naming the court after Jimmy V at the RBC is a good one too
2/13/2007 8:47:02 PM
Yow deserves itbut the RBC court doesn't need to be named after anyone
2/13/2007 8:47:25 PM
she deserves more than just a court, but its a good place to start

I think you can count on them.I'd even suggest a front-page story submission but it's a really bad time for that.[Edited on February 13, 2007 at 9:03 PM. Reason : front]

I say don't name the court at the RBC Center after V. Instead just put up three bronze life size statues of Case, Sloan, and Valvano at the front entrance of the arena. I still think we need a NC State basketball hall of fame/museum. Alabama has a museum on their campus. It'd be nice just to see the history of State's basketball program all accounted for in one building with classic photos and timelines.
2/13/2007 10:36:32 PM
yeah i think naming the court and the ESA after V would be a bad idea.^ i LOVE that idea
2/13/2007 11:11:24 PM
I'm down with some statues. That would give me chills walking in for the game!
2/13/2007 11:25:25 PM
Museum or statues would rock. Yeah there are some State fans that live in the past too much, but there are SO MANY current students who have no idea of our history. A museum or at least more museum type stuff at the RBC Center would help
2/13/2007 11:36:19 PM
Wait, what has she done again besides getting cancer? She made it to the final 4 like 15 years ago, right? And she hasn't really done shit since?OK name the court after her.And name the RBC court after Herb Sendek while you're at it.
2/13/2007 11:44:35 PM
are you saying put the statues outside of reynolds or rbc? it would never happen outside of rbc while we share the building with the hurricanes and whatever else. ^ she still means a hell of a lot to the university and is brings a great deal of class to basketball

i'm all for some sort of statue/memorium either outside or inside the esa, but i think a coach should have coached on the actual floor for it to be named after him
2/14/2007 3:34:17 AM
2/14/2007 9:04:11 AM
having the rbc or the court after jimmy v is a DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB idea.case is MUCH more deserving. as for reynolds/yow, that's fantastic![Edited on February 14, 2007 at 10:31 AM. Reason : ]

Case already has the Athletic Center next to Reynolds.if Case is named after anything more, it should be either the mezzanine, or the locker room, or something else. I'd even rather have a statue of Case in front of the RBC center, more so than Valvano... but that court belongs to Jimmy V.
2/14/2007 11:24:39 AM
Anyone else think this might mean she might be stepping down permanently? I hope not anyway. She definitely deserves this.
2/14/2007 11:28:01 AM
^^ so name the athletic center for valvano. case trumps any and all coaches, and even a.d.'s, we've ever had.
2/14/2007 5:27:32 PM
shes the herb sendek of women's basketball
2/14/2007 5:34:00 PM
^^Case's contributions to basketball amount to anecdotes, footnotes, and afterthoughts, even in sports writers' pieces. He DID do alot, but he's not quite Rupp or Naismith. V, on the other hand, is very well known, and, despite his ugly demise here, IS the face of NC State Basketball, now and probably forever.
2/14/2007 5:36:25 PM
so you want to name our court, something that's VERY signficant, after valvano simply because non-state people would like it best???
2/14/2007 5:38:23 PM
not at all.
2/14/2007 5:39:50 PM
As great as Case was, I think Valvano really captured the heart of the wolfpack nation. He needs a court named after him or we continue to suck. Mark those words.
2/14/2007 5:42:47 PM
Jim Valvano Court at the RBC Centerlocated along with Carter-Finley Stadium in the beautiful Everett Case Athletic Parkthere, I solved all the problems
2/14/2007 5:43:05 PM
^i'm completely for it.
2/14/2007 5:44:22 PM
if valvano hadn't died from cancer and made some dramatic speeches, no one would give a damn. naming of the court should only have to do with nc state, not what someone did for cancer awareness and how many sportswriters aren't worth a damn when it comes to basketball history.as you probably know, case established big time basketball in the south. he made the southern conference and the acc. case made nc state basketball into what it would be for 50 years. case's success at nc state forced unc to hire dean smith. duke hired one of case's former players and assistants, vic bubas, and he turned duke into a basketball power. he coached norm sloan too. case brought down several traditions from indiana and started others, like cutting down the nets. case is nc state basketball. unc, duke, wake, maryland, and virginia fans would all assuredly agree; as would former acc players. i don't care what espn, joe buck in minnesota, or some sports writer in texas thinks.[Edited on February 14, 2007 at 5:55 PM. 2/14/2007 5:47:15 PM
thanks for the history lessonname the court after V anyways.
2/14/2007 5:50:52 PM
well, i'll just be content in knowing that'll likely never happen.
2/14/2007 5:52:29 PM

2/14/2007 6:07:14 PM
The RBC court should be named Jimmy V Court because he was the one that pushed for a new and improved basketball stadium
2/14/2007 6:11:06 PM
so thats all you have to do to have a court named after you?shit, since i've been here i've been wanting the library to be renovated. name the renovated wing after me please[Edited on February 14, 2007 at 6:15 PM. Reason : m]
