You should be able to see this through any modern routers web interface.

Start, run, type "cmd" w/o quotes
type ipconfig, look at the Default Gateway
Open a web browser, type http://(default gateway). Ex. http://192.168.1.1

Click around until you find it. If it prompts you for a username/password, download or find the manual for it.

well ive already gotten the username/password typed in and im trying to forward ports 17000-17050 and im going by the guide for this router from portforward.com or whatever but its still not working

says i need to set up a static IP address which ive done according to their instructions yet when i switch from dynamic to static i cant connect anymore

its a netgear CG814W

and by "not working" i mean i go into utorrent and do their speed checker and it tells me port 17000 is not forwarded

Quote :
"Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.

Checking port 17000 on 65.190.144.16...

Error! Port 17000 does not appear to be open.

this is retarded

im going to the IP i went to last night

one in twenty times the username/password box pops up

the rest of the time it says cannot find server

when i type in the username and password it goes back to the cannot find server page

EDIT: ok well it worked in Opera

BigMan do you mean switch to a static IP?

I tried that according to their instructions (they dont have the same menu screenshot that i have with my router...so im thinking maybe theyre wrong?)

but when i switch from static to dynamic i lose internet

At this point, you are going to have to do some additional reading on your own to get it to work. We generally can't get too specific with any one router configuration unless one of us owns that particular model with that particular firmware.

If you'd like, you can probably offer $10-$20 and somebody can stop by and take care of everything for you.
