Anyone taken this DE class before? Any advice?

not DE, but i took the actual class and I really liked it (one of my favorite classes after 8 semesters). Prioli is a good lecturer and really nice. Don't know if you're around campus or not but if you have trouble at any point you could certainly go talk to him.The class was large and what discussion there was, was typically initiated by him. Considering that, I think watching it on dvd or tv or whatever would probably be fine. For the tests he gave you like 8-10 IDs/topics and you just wrote as much as you could in a class session on maybe 5 of them (typically ended up being about 3-4pgs front and back). And there were like 3 papers i think.I know that isn't exactly what you were looking for but i thought it may help. I think i actually still have the class notes if you want them.

Would you say that his lectures were beneficial to taking the tests? Or should I focus more on the readings itself? Is he a lenient grader?

Prioli is one of the best in the English DepartmentI took Colonial American with him....one of my best classes at State^notes are huge...He lays the test out for you. I remember taking the first test and thinking, wow this is exactly what he said it would be[Edited on February 7, 2007 at 1:33 AM. Reason : added]

the lectures are crucial. The text was just the readings, everything about the readings (like putting them in context and the significance, etc.) came from the lectures, and that is what he is looking for on the test, not for you to recite the writings line by line. Every thing i wrote on the tests came from his lectures, to be honest I typically didn't finish the readings (I'm NOT suggesting you can get away without doing them) and did fine.I would say "he is a fair grader", i still have some of the tests along with my notes if you would like to see what they're like. I can't guarantee they'll be the same format distant ed. but it may give you an idea.
