Does anyone have old exams for her biochemistry class?I have all of the old exams from multiple semesters (spring and fall) as well as multiple recitation worksheets from different semesters (spring and fall) for Emigh's GN 411 class if someone wants to trade. Please let me know if you would like to trade or if you would just be willing to help me out and let me photocopy these exams. Thanks in advance.

If she went over it in class, it is not the wrong material. By the way, old tests help, but don't just think that she will put the same information on all future tests, because you will die.

Actually I audited the class last semester, and for studying I would just memorize every structure she mentioned and then memorize the old exams. You can most definately pass a test now by studying this way. If you want an A, you might want to put more effort into it.

she showed me the spring exam from 2005 today and it looks pretty rough. I dont see how anyone can finish that exam in just 50 minutes unless they know the material as well as someone like her. The test is out of 32 but there are 36 possible points....i dont see myself getting anywhere close to this though and im going to be studying every night till friday..... i guess i can just be happy that this is my last difficult class before im done with my degree

Honestly, know everything! I had Knopp, but anything covered in class, the book, notes, etc. was fair game. Sylvia tends to use a shortened version on Knopp's test, and he never uses the same question twice. I wouldn't recommend studying from old exams per say. Just use them to get an idea of how questions are asked and the format. It is pretty much guarenteed that you won't see a question repeated. Also, if you don't know the answer to a question on the test, don't try to b.s. the answer. I don't know if Sylvia does this, but Knopp definately took off points for this! I had a kid in my class that actually got a negative score on one test. If you study the information you went over in class and know it well, you should be fine. Make sure to go through your Knopp's notes. Questions from that are definately on every test!

you're wrong...the easiest way to pass the class is to have old tests. i had 6 semester's worth and it allowed me to guestimate with a good bit of accuracy what would be on each test. i was the guy who finished 1 year ago in 22 minutes for test one.

^^^^^ sadly ncstategal was right. I was able to get my paws on the spring 04 and 06 exams she gave and neither of them had very much relevancy to the exam she gave today. The only similarity was the drawing of the amino acid N-C-C-N-C-C..... but we already knew that was going to be on there. I doubt im going to waste my time studying past exams for this class anymore.

^You just didn't have enough old tests. I had at least 6 semesters worth, and the only things I can remember from today's test that weren't on an old test were the questions about the KA calculation, the net charge on that funky peptide, and a few of the fill in the blanks. Everything else, all the multiple choice, the matching, the structure drawing, the pI calculation, the henderson hasselbalch eqn....ALL those things had been asked on an old test before...or at least there were questions that were very similar.Knowing the structures is probably the biggest part of the first test...you could definately pass just by memorizing those things. When I was studying I learned those first, and everything else was secondary.
